The Light Realm
The Light Realm is the starting area in World of Light. After Galeem vaporized everyone who opposed him (aside from Kirby), Kirby crash lands into The Light Realm with the task of rescuing all captured fighters and defeating Galeem.
This is where the player starts the game. The spirits are mostly of neutral types so players can familiarize with Spirit battles. After unlocking a character, Master Hand creates bubbles blocking the other two characters which disappear when the player defeats at least one boss.
Just to the north of the Start area is the Forest area which has a waterfall and ground with star decals. Upon arrival, Master Hand destroys a bridge which can be repaired if the player has a bridge repair Spirit.
This area is a small town with a fountain in the middle.
Just to the west of the Starting area is the Mushroom area. The terrain mainly consists of mushrooms. Most of the spirits in this area are affiliated with fungi. If the player has a rain conjuring spirit, they can grow a set of mushrooms leading to Olimar's spirit battle.
This area is a stepped terrain with checkered grass resembling Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog. Many spirits found here are characters who reside in valleys.
This area is a jungle with many aspects from Donkey Kong. Most of the spirits found here reside in jungles including several Donkey Kong spirits.
Racing circuit area
To the east of the Starting area is the Racing Circuit area. This area is themed around Mario Kart with some aspect from the F-Zero series. Most of the area can only be accessed using the F-Zero racer which can only be operated if the player has the Pico spirit. The spirits in this area mainly depict vehicles.
This area is a grassy area featuring a Sheikah Tower from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The spirits found hear are mainly characters who are based in grassy settings. There is also a green warp pipe which teleports the player near the Shrouded Forest area.
This area is a passageway on the western side of the light canyon.
Northern city area
This area is one of several towns in the Light Realm. It features the Prism Tower from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Southern city area
This city list on the southern portion divided by an aqueduct. It features several buildings resembling Nintendo Consoles and a Nintendo 64 logo. It also features Moray Towers from Splatoon and a building resembling the Nintendo headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. The main gimmick in this area is a button which opens several gates.
This area features rushing water which carries players to a certain area.
Shrouded forest area
This is the westernmost town found in the light realm. If the player has a Kapp'n (Wild World) spirit, they can take a bus which goes to the Town area.
Ribbon hills area
Icy mountain area
This area is mainly an icy mountain filled with ice-themed spirits. Several paths are covered with ice which can only be traversed in a single direction. The ice can be cleared be defeating the Ice Climbers.
This area is located to the west of Galeem. This area is themed around outer space and is loosely based around the Star Fox universe. The spirits found in this area are associated with space. The player must have either a Slippy Toad, or a ROB 64 spirit to ride the Great Fox to explore this area.

Coastal town area
There are a total of 16 activities in The Light Realm, one of which is in a sub-world. Activites range from a gym to train spirits, exploring for items, and dojos to train certain aspects of spirits. Activites are unlocked when the player has acquired the corresponding Master spirit through a spirit battle.
All 5 of the shopping locations are found in The Light Realm, with one being in a sub-world. Shopping allows the player to purchase spirits, snacks and Spirit Board items using Spirit Points. Similarly to Activities, the player must acquire the corresponding Master spirit. through a spirit battle to unlock them.
There are five bosses present in the Light Realm, with three of them fought in sub-worlds. Giga Bowser is found in the Molten Fortress, Galleom is found in the Base, and Rathalos is found in the Forest Hill.
Since Kirby escaped from Galeem’s attack, he is the only fighter the player has available from the start. The other 73 base roster fighters have been captured and must be awakened for the player to unlock. Downloadable fighters are simply unlocked after the player has awakened a total of 10 fighters. 42 of the 73 captured fighters are unlocked in the Light Realm. 10 of them reside in sub-worlds. Aside from Bowser, all captured fighters must be unlocked through a fighter battle. Mario is always awakened first, with the second awakening being a choice between Sheik, Marth, or Villager. The lists of fighters are organized roughly by order of appearance.
Names in other languages
