Origin[edit]

This track is a soft rock remix of Pollyanna (I Believe in You) from EarthBound Beginnings, where it plays as the overworld theme when Ninten doesn't have any partners accompanying him and when he reaches the XX Stone atop Mt. Itoi. A rendition of the song appears in Earthbound inside Ness's house, and in Mother 3 near the end of the game when the party takes a boat ride through the Hall of Memories inside Porky's Empire Porky Building, as they pass items from the previous game. It is considered the series' unofficial theme. The song primarily leads with piano and keyboards, but incorporates other instruments such as strings, a trumpet, flute, and harmonica. As with SSB4, this track loops after the 1:46 mark instead of the 3:03 mark as in Melee and Brawl.

Origin[edit]

This track is a combination of two music pieces from the original EarthBound Beginnings: the music that played in the Magicant area, and "Eight Melodies," the collection of melodies that Ninten would construct throughout his adventure. Compared to the Ultimate remix, this song is closer to the sound of the original songs, led by a violin. The first half includes an electronic drum-and-bassline, while the second half drops these aspects and introduces piano and additional strings before looping.

Arrangement debut Super Smash Bros. Melee
Availability Default
Link [5]

Origin[edit]

This track is a medley of music tracks from EarthBound Beginnings, otherwise known as Mother. The main track is Bein' Friends, the theme that plays when Ninten has one partner accompanying him. The second track is the Eight Melodies, the main theme of EarthBound Beginnings as a whole. The final portion of the song is the game's title screen theme, Mother Earth, as well as a brief sample of the standard Enemy Encounter Theme before looping. The overall style of the track is orchestral rock, prominently featuring woodwinds and brass; the Eight Melodies portion is played on a quiet music box, transitioning into a more symphonic arrangement for Mother Earth.

This track was previously titled "Mother" in Melee and Brawl and "Onett" in SSB4. In earlier versions of Ultimate, the song's name was misspelled as "Bein' Friend"; this error was corrected in update 2.0.0.

Origin[edit]

As its name implies, this song is a remix of two themes in EarthBound: the music that plays as Ness explores Onett, and the music that plays when Jeff escapes his dormitory in Winters (which itself is an arrangement of EarthBound Beginnings's Snowman theme). These two themes are arranged very similarly to their original counterparts in EarthBound, with slightly higher tempo and more prominent brass in the Onett Theme segment. The beginning of the Onett Theme segment also includes a brief portion of Pollyanna (I Believe in You) from EarthBound Beginnings, which also plays in EarthBound when Ness steps out of Pokey's home into Onett after the game's prologue.

Origin[edit]

This piece is a remix of the piece "Smiles and Tears" from EarthBound. Like EarthBound Beginnings before it, EarthBound requires Ness to collect Eight Melodies throughout the story; "Smiles and Tears" was the rendition of these Eight Melodies that played over EarthBound's staff credits. The song is remixed as a upbeat ballad with focus on piano, brass, and muted electric guitar. This particular remix also features EarthBound Beginnings's Eight Melodies in the second verse.

Origin[edit]

This track is a remixed arrangement of two music tracks in Mother 3, those being His Highness' Theme and LOG-O-TYPE. Taken directly from Brawl, this track is most similar to the His Highness's Theme portion of the "From Utopia" track and the LOG-O-TYPE portion of the "Tazmily is the Stage" track on the iTunes-exclusive album Mother 3i. The overall piece is reminiscent of a military march with heavy focus on brass. In Mother 3, this track usually played in the Pigmask Army's presence; the name of this track stems from the Pigmasks' allegiance to Porky Minch. This song was rearranged by its original composer, Shogo Sakai.
