Trivia

  • Strangely, despite having artwork from their series, the Pokémon Trainers themselves use their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate art instead, and are the only Pokémon fighters to do so. This could be due to them lacking Pokémon Global Link artwork themselves, as every other Pokémon spirit has such artwork besides the ones specifically mentioned not to.
    • The Pokémon Trainers are also the only human Pokémon spirits, even though Pikachu and Eve’s trainers got represented in the Partner spirit battles.
  • Despite being Poké Ball Pokémon, Snivy, Fennekin, Fletchling, Spewpa, Gogoat, Swirlix, and Marshadow do not have spirits.
  • The Pokémon series has the most spirits, with a total of 152, and is the first overall to receive DLC spirits.
        • Most of these spirits would end up clashing with their evolved or pre evolved forms as spirits.
    • Pokémon and Super Mario are the only series to have more than 100 spirits in the game, even counting only those present in the base game.
  • The base stats of the Arceus spirit are both 2006, which is the year Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were released in Japan.
  • Detective Pikachu is the only Pokémon spirit that represents a Pokémon spin-off title or series.
  • Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevee can be obtained by having save data of the respective Let's Go! game on the same profile as Ultimate. This makes them the second collectible in a Smash game to be obtainable through having save data for another game, the first being Melee's trophy of Olimar, being only obtainable through having save data for Pikmin. Unlike the trophy, Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevee are available without the save data; since version 2.0.0, they can be obtained directly in the Spirit Board or in the Vault Shop.
  • Excluding fighter spirits, Detective Pikachu, and DLC spirits, the Pokémon spirits are in numerical order by National Pokédex number.
  • Zacian & Zamazenta is the first Legend-class Primary Spirit introduced since the game's launch.
    • It is also the first DLC Legend-class spirit to not be a part of a DLC Spirit Board, and until an unspecified point of time between versions 12.0.0 and 13.0.0, the only Legend-class spirit that only lasted 5 minutes rather than 15 minutes on the Spirit Board.
  • Due to the shutdown of Pokémon Global Link, all Generation VIII Pokémon spirits (as well as the Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevee spirits) use their official key art instead. However, artwork for Generation VIII Pokémon in the Global Link style does exist through official merchandise.
  • Mimikyu and Detective Pikachu are the only Pokémon spirits to not play music from the Pokémon series.
    • Likewise, Abra, Unown, and Raikou, Entei, and Suicune are the only base-game Pokémon spirits to not play music from the generation they debuted in (or their remakes, in the case of Salamence, Rayquaza, and Deoxys).
  • Pikachu is the Pokémon with the most spirits.
  • Bulbasaur is the only kanto starter to not have a spirit, while Chikorita, Piplup, Oshawott, Chespin, and Rowlet are the only starters of their region to get spirits not counting Greninja or Incineroar, Hoenn doesn’t have any starter sprits not counting Blaziken, and Galar is the only region with all starters as spirits.
