Pichu is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was confirmed on June 12th, 2018.
Changes from Super Smash Bros. Melee
Like in Melee, Pichu damages itself when using electric attacks.
Aesthetics
Pichu's design now matches the latest games in the Pokémon franchise. Its colors are more vibrant and it's much more expressive than in Melee.- Pichu now has squash and stretch in it's animations, giving it a bouncy feel.
- Many of Pichu's attacks now have new animations differing from its moveset in Melee.
- Pichu has a new taunt akin to Pikachu's up taunt, except it humorously becomes dizzy afterwards.
Ground attacks
Forward tilt can trip opponents.
Forward tilt has an electric effect, thus causing recoil damage to Pichu.
Special moves
- Thunder meteor smashes targets hit high above Pichu and into the electric blast, akin to Pikachu's.
- Like with Pikachu's Thunder, the electricity discharged when the lightning from strikes Pichu is yellow rather than blue, and has Pichu flash with a dark tint.
