Meta Knight (メタナイト, Meta Knight) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4
Aesthetics
- As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Meta Knight's model features a more subdued color scheme. His mask, armor, and sword feature more detailed textures.
- Galaxia's sword trails now appear to use reversed colors, using aqua with yellow accents instead of the yellow with turquoise accents from Smash 4.
- Meta Knight's eyes close while using his up taunt. Additionally, the trails emitted by the tornado are now colored white instead of yellow.
- His Galacta Knight-inspired alternate costume more closely resembles its inspiration: his mask becomes cross-shaped, his spikes and insignia become yellow, and Galaxia turns pink like Galacta Knight's lance. Similarly, Galaxia turns silver when donning the Dark Meta Knight costume, and his mask gains a scar, much like his doppelgänger.
Attributes
- Like all characters, Meta Knight's jumpsquat animation now takes three frames to complete.
Ground Attacks
- Jab has less ending lag and it's animation is faster.
- Dash attack has higher knockback, reducing its combo potential.
- Forward tilt has a bigger hitbox.
Aerial attacks
- Down aerial, forward aerial and back aerial have larger hitboxes, making it easier to hit opponents.
- Forward aerial and neutral aerial have much less landing lag.
- Up aerial is harder to combo into itself with, hindering it's damage racking potential.
Throws/other attacks
- Pummel is faster.
- Down throw appears to have much higher knockback, reducing its ability to combo.
Special Moves
- Mach Tornado now has a vortex form around him.
- Mach Tornado travels at a faster pace, and now only hits opponents once.
- Shuttle Loop goes higher now, and has less landing lag.
- Shuttle Loop has significantly less knockback, making it much harder to KO with, and it's second hit connects less reliably with it's first.
- Dimensional Cape travels farther, making it better for recovery.
- Meta Knight's Final Smash has been changed. He now creates a surge of energy around him; any opponent that gets caught is dragged into the air, where Meta Knight clones himself to strike repeatedly, before finishing with a slash that sends opponents at a horizontal angle.
