Article on Zelda Wiki Cucco

A Cucco (コッコ, Kokko) is a chicken-like creature found throughout the The Legend of Zelda series.

In Super Smash Bros. 4

A Cucco has been confirmed to appear as an item in Super Smash Bros. 4. A character who is hit by a thrown Cucco is attacked from additional Cuccos that fly in from off-screen. Visually, they resemble their appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Additionally, Cuccos appear in Smash Run in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as an enemy. Here, they resemble their visual design from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and appear as 2D sprites.

Origin

Cuccos are a domestic animal found in many titles in The Legend of Zelda series, starting with A Link to the Past. Link can often carry one above his head and use it to glide across gaps as long as he is airborne. Cuccos are also notorious for becoming hostile and attacking Link if he attacks them too much, although in Twilight Princess he could temporarily control one instead, though it serves no other purpose other than a subversion.
