Pit is a well-balanced, well-rounded character with a defensive special that nullifies long distance attacks and excellent recovery. He's a great choice for new players!

Pit (ピット, Pit) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was confirmed as a playable character on June 12th, 2018. Antony Del Rio once again reprises his role as Pit in the English version of the game.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

NOTE: SmashWiki is not speculative. Please refrain from adding detailed data values derived from pre-release gameplay footage, such as the E3 demo. Such data (damage values, launch trajectories, frame data, etc.) are subject to change before the official release.

Aesthetics

  •   As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Pit's model features a more subdued color scheme. His clothing and wings now feature simple detailing, while his eyes and hair appear more detailed.
  •   Like many other characters, Pit is more expressive.
  •   Pit's "victory sign" animation has changed. He now does a celebratory jump before showing the hand sign.

Attributes

  •   Like all characters, Pit's jumpsquat animation now takes three frames to complete.

Ground attacks

  •   Neutral infinite's animation has changed. Pit's bow no longer spins while fully formed, he now quickly slashes with the bow split in two.
  •   Neutral infinite connects better into the final hit, improving the move's utility.
  •   Dash attack's animation has been altered. Pit lunges quicker, and the move travels further. It also deals more knockback.
  •   Forward smash second hit connects better, improving the move's utility.

Aerial attacks

  •   All aerial moves have reduced landing lag.
  •   Neutral aerial has a slightly longer duration.
  •   Forward and up aerial have increased knockback.
  •   Back air sourspot seems to be removed.
  •   Down air hitbox is bigger.

Special moves

  •   Palutena Bow travels faster and has decreased endlag.
  •   Upperdash Arm has less endlag when falling off the ledge.
  •   Upperdash Arm has slightly less knockback and does less damage.
  •   Power of Flight can now grab the ledge when facing backwards.
  •   Power of Flight halts at the end of the move, reducing its recovery potential.
  •   Pit will float for a little bit after the move, but that means he will be more vulnerable to attacks.
  •   Guardian Orbitars comes out faster when activated.
  •   Pit's Final Smash has changed once again, now being the Lightning Chariot from Uprising, which has the same attack as the Dragoon, though coming from behind rather than in front.

Trivia

  • Pit's pose in his official artwork resembles his side taunt.
  • When Pit is KO'd via Star KO, he sometimes shouts, "I never learned how to read!" This is a reference to a line of dialogue he uses in Kid Icarus: Uprising. This makes Pit the first character in Super Smash Bros. to speak a full sentence during a Star KO.
