Article on Icaruspedia Phosphora

Phosphora (エレカ, Ereka, also known by her full title 電光のエレカ, Ereka of Lightning) is a supporting character in Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Origin[edit]

Phosphora as seen in Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Phosphora is one of the captains of Viridi's Forces of Nature. She first appears in chapter 14, initially defeating Thanatos who assumed a glowing dragon form at the time. Pit fights her at the end of the chapter. She reappears in Chapter 20 to retrieve the Lightning Chariot after Pit disembarks from it.

Phosphora's original English voice actress was Kari Wahlgren, but was changed to Stephanie Komure in SSB4 due to scheduling conflicts.

In Super Smash Bros. 4[edit]

As an Assist Trophy[edit]

Phosphora in action.

Phosphora appears in Super Smash Bros. 4 as an Assist Trophy. Once summoned, she says "Yes, you called?" and teleports around the stage while unleashing electric attacks on opponents. Her attacks come in the form of three quick, blue, lightning bolts (each one deals 8%); three small, yellow spheres (each one deals 13%); or a big, blue sphere (which deals 13% initially then 10%) which can go through the stage and homes in on an opponent. Phosphora can be attacked, but she will only flinch and can not be defeated.

Phosphora is active for 540 frames. Her blue bolts last 30 frames, cannot pass through hard surfaces or the tops of soft platforms, move at 6.4 units per frame (u/f), are fired 39 frames apart from each other, and can be aimed 90° up or down relative to straight forward. Her yellow spheres last 90 frames, cannot pass through the same surfaces as the blue bolts, move at 2.8 u/f, and cover a 60° spread (i.e. straight at target, 30° above, and 30° below). Her large blue sphere lasts 210 frames, starts with a speed of 0.8 u/f, and doesn't home in initially. After 20 frames the large blue sphere starts to home in on a target, accelerating 0.04 u/f per frame up to 4.6 u/f, can readjust by up to 3° per frame, loses up to 2.5% of its speed while turning, and stops homing after 110 frames.

Phosphora has four types of teleports with different durations: towards (10.8-11.6 frames), away (5.4-7.2), vertical (3.6-5.4), and repeat. Her teleports move 10 units per frame and are either straight left/right (towards and away) or straight up/down (vertical). If she chooses "repeat", she will use another one of the teleports up to two times with a 10% chance to stop early. If she is outside of the stage's camera bounds or within 25 units of it, she will prioritize teleporting over attacking.

Phosphora chooses actions randomly based on where an opponent is, checking set areas and using a probability table associated with it. She has four areas she checks which will be referred to by number and a default probability table if no opponents are in any of the areas.

Phosphora has a spawn chance of 38/1254. She can be summoned on all stages in a standard versus match.

In Smash Tour[edit]

Phosphora as a Smash Tour item.

Phosphora's trophy is one of the red items that can be collected during Smash Tour. When used before a battle, it will grant the player the ability to land instantly by tapping down.

Phosphora
NTSC Phosphora is a young, beautiful, fierce commander of the Forces of Nature. She also has control over electricity, letting her move at shockingly high speed. When I write it out like that, it sounds like she has everything! Well, I did hear she isn't a great singer...
PAL Some people are just too talented for their own good, and Phosphora is one of those people. A commander of the Forces of Nature, she has speed, strength and the power of electricity on her side. However, everybody has their flaws, and maybe – just maybe – her singing's not that great.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

As an Assist Trophy[edit]

Phosphora returns as an Assist Trophy with the same attacks from Smash 4, though with some adjustments. Unlike in SSB4, she now faces the screen regardless of which direction she faces. She now has a base HP of 25 that increases with player count, allowing her to be KOd to earn a point. Her attacks are faster, her probability tables were adjusted to teleport more on average, and she checks larger areas. Training Mode describes her Assist Trophy: Moves around at lightning speed, shooting three types of electric attacks.

Compared to Smash 4, Phosphora's blue bolts are fired faster (39 → 36 frames) and can't be aimed as high or low (90° up/down → 85°). Her yellow spheres move faster (2.8 → 3.2 u/f). Her homing sphere accelerates faster (0.04 → 0.12 u/f per frame), has a higher top speed (4.6 → 6.2 u/f), can turn more tightly (3° → 4° max per frame), loses more speed while turning (2.5% → 5%), and stops homing sooner (110 → 90 frames). Her teleports have been shortened overall: towards (10.8-11.6 → 4.8-7.2 frames), away (5.4-7.2 → 4.2-6.4), and vertical (3.6-5.4 → 4.2-5.4). Repeating a teleport now has a 0% chance to stop early instead of 10%. She has a new teleport that lasts 4.2-5.4 frames and is only used when she is outside of the stage's camera bounds or within 25 units of it. This teleport aims straight at the stage's center instead of moving along strictly up, down, left, or right like her other teleports.

Phosphora also appears as an Ace-class support spirit. She can be summoned using the cores of Elec Man and Rotom.
