Dillon (ジロー, Jiro) is the main protagonist from Dillon's Rolling Western.
Origin[edit]
Dillon is the titular silent protagonist in the Dillon's Rolling Western series. The series has been a cross between Tower Defense and standard action games, having day sections, committed to tower building and mining, and dusk phases, where Dillon must protect a village from having its livestock being eaten by rock monsters called Grocks. Primarily, when in battle, he uses a combination of rolling into enemies, slashing at them with claws, or rapidly rotating against them whilst wearing metal spikes.
In Super Smash Bros. 4[edit]
As an Assist Trophy[edit]
Dillon appears as an Assist Trophy in this game. He appears and tips his hat once before performing rolling attacks several times within 14 seconds. His first few attacks have him charging up with a red glow for 30 to 60 frames (0.5 to 1 seconds) and rolling forward, hitting up to three times before backing off and dealing a base damage of 4%, multiplied by 1.1 to 1.11 based on how long he charged (30 frames for 1.1, 60 for 1.11). His last attack occurs in his last two seconds, has a yellow glow, and the charge can trap opponents (dealing 1% damage per hit) into the final hit, which deals 18%, high knockback, and sends opponents offscreen along with himself where he disappears. If he falls offstage before the final spin attack, he will teleport back onstage. Like a few other Assist Trophies, he can be defeated by taking enough hits, whereby he falls on his chest defeated.
Dillon has a spawn chance of 32/1254. He cannot be summoned on the following stages in a standard versus match (applies to both games and only the base form unless noted otherwise):
In Smash Tour[edit]
Dillon appears as a blue item in Smash Tour: when used, it will cause all other players encountered during that turn to be launched.
Trophy[edit]
Dillon's trophy appears in both versions of the game. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U it is part of the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS Trophy Box.
- Dillon
Only one armadillo can save the village from a Grock invasion, and that's Dillon, a.k.a. the Red Flash. With his trusty claws and roll attacks, he'll take them out one by one. If you summon him to the battle, he'll launch a devastating roll attack and follow it up with his ultimate technique, Arma-Charge, to send foes flying!

As an Assist Trophy[edit]
Dillon returns as an Assist Trophy, functioning similarly to how he did in Smash 4, but with some adjustments and his appearance has changed to how he looks in Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers. His standard roll's glow is now yellow instead of red and the final roll is now green instead of yellow. His standard charge now has a hitbox like his final charge does, dealing 3% each hit. All of his attacks also deal more damage: standard roll was increased to 5% from 4% (multipliers from charge duration are the same), final charge 1.2% from 1%, and final spin 20% from 18%. KO-ing him gives a point.
Dillon has a spawn chance of 32/2086. He cannot be summoned on the following stages in a standard versus match (applies only to the base form unless noted otherwise):
Spirit[edit]
Dillon also appears as an Ace-class primary spirit.
Dillon can be summoned using the cores of Wheelie, Sandshrew, and one Attack core.
Dillon's Spirit Battle uses a Sonic puppet fighter and is fought on the Midgar stage. During the battle, Dillon appears as a hostile Assist Trophy while Sonic favors his neutral special, referencing Dillon's rolling attack.

Trivia[edit]
- Not counting the Nintendog (which becomes a completely different individual breed in each installment), Dillon is the only Assist Trophy to receive a substantial aesthetic change in his appearance between installments, as in Smash 4 he was based off of his appearance in Dillon's Rolling Western and its sequel, while in Ultimate, he is based off of his Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers appearance.
