A map showing a part of this world.

The World of Trophies (called This World on the Smash Bros. DOJO!! website and on the trophies) is the world in which the Subspace Emissary takes place. The area is quite diverse in terrain, ranging from forests to deserts. There is a Floating Island of the Ancients in the middle of a long ocean, where the Subspace Army holds its base of operations. All the characters of Smash live in different areas in this 'World'. The Ancient Minister's trophy description states he was once the ruler of 'this world' who lived on The Floating Island of the Ancients with the R.O.B.s. Tabuu wanted the R.O.B.s to work constructing Subspace bombs, and forced the Minister to order them to do this and lead the Subspace Army.

In the World of Trophies, Trophies that depict various Nintendo characters hold fights. Fighting is their sole existence. When defeated, instead of dying, the character is turned into a trophy. When a character is 'Trophified', he or she must be revived by another character or a Dedede Badge. Bosses, such as Petey Pirahna or Master Hand actually die when defeated. This is shown when Master Hand tried to strike Tabuu, but was defeated with little effort, and Master Hand lay motionless. Of course, this doesn't stop the characters to have the personalities and memories of the "real" characters. For example, King Dedede recognizes Kirby and gives him a mighty hug, and Link and Zelda recognize Ganondorf in the Subspace and revive him to help defeat Tabuu, Mario/Link recognized Peach/Zelda's trophy and tried to rescue her. Some characters from the same universe actually are friends or enemies in this world as well, such as Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, Link and Zelda, Mario and Peach, Fox and Falco, and even Samus and Ridley. Even characters from the same universe that appeared in seperated games became friends, like Lucas and Ness, and Marth and Ike.

Flags and Crowns

Both flags and crowns are proof that the player has cleared a stage. A flag means that the player failed to acquire every orange cube or didn't enter all of the doors for that stage. A crown means that the stage has been completely cleared. The only way to get 100% is to have crowns for every stage.

Clear %

The Clear % tells how much of The Subspace Emissary the player has completed. There is more than one way to increase the Clear %. First of all, the player has to enter every place he/she can, including hidden doors. Clearing the Stages is the biggest way to increase the clear percentage. Acquiring all the orange cube items is another way to increase the clear percentage. These cubes contain valuable items, such as character trophies and will not reappear once you get them. Some items that are different from orange cubes occasionally appear, these also affect the clear percentage. To make sure one has 100 %, the player's map must have all crowns and no flags.

If you have crowns every where, and you will defeat Tabuu, the game is cleared, you will only have 97% after the game gets saved. Don't worry, if you go back to your save file, you will notice that 3 stages (The Forest, The Swamp, and The Ruins) are not crowns anymore in the map. That's because you have to return in those stages to go grab the three optional characters Toon Link, Jigglypuff, and Wolf. You must enter a new door in each three stages. In each of these doors, you will fight one of the hidden characters. After defeating a character, he will join your team and you will gain 1%. After you got all three missing characters in your team, you will now have 100% of completion.

Trivia

  • Many of the poses in fighter's Trophies seen in the Subspace Emissary are different than those collected in Classic Mode.
  • Many characters in this world join your party after they are defeated. The only exceptions are Marth, Ike, Meta Knight, Luigi, Ness, King Dedede, Samus/Zero Suit Samus, Pikachu, Captain Falcon and Zelda/Peach.
