Mario Galaxy[1] is a confirmed stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. It is based on the Super Mario Galaxy subseries of Mario platformers. The stage is confirmed to feature gravity similar to that of the Galaxy games. It was officially confirmed on November 15, 2013, though one of the daily pics on the site teased it as much as two months prior.

Overview

The characters will fight on a small, grassy planet in deep space. The stage has a few trees and a house in the background. Various spaceships from the Galaxy games are seen in the sky. Because the planet is so small, the stage has a noticeable curvature to it. The center of gravity is the center of the planet, so jumping or getting launched upwards from the edge will cause the character to move diagonally. There are also at least two platforms of differing heights on the stage, though it is unknown if they are moving or stationary. There are no ledges, and it is unknown if the stage's sides are walk-off ledges.

Origin

The stage is based on the Gateway Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy. The stage-specific planet is part of the first mission in the game. One of Bowser's Airships from both the first Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are seen in the stage's background, as is Starship Mario and its pilot, Lubba from Galaxy 2 and a Starshroom from both games.
