Origin[edit]

Pidgit made their appearance in the Japan-only game Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic (repurposed as Super Mario Bros. 2 for international markets) as a common enemy. They are purple birds with orange beaks, round eyes, and red feet. They fly on their magic carpets, and then swoop down to attack the player. The player can jump onto their carpet and threw them off. The carpet can be used to travel across the stage for a certain amount of time. They occasionally reappear in later Mario games, such as Super Mario World and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]

As a stage hazard[edit]

Pidgits appear as stage hazards in the Mushroom Kingdom II stage. They will fly around the stage on their magic carpets, which serve as a moving soft platform; however, it can also carry the player past the blast lines on either side of the stage. Pidgits appear in their sprite form from the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 2.

Pidgits are wingless birds enchanted by the vegetable-hating Wart to be the bearers of bad dreams. They live in Subcon, a land contained within Mario's dreams, where they fly around on magic carpets. Mario and friends were able to use these carpets for short distances once they dislodged the piloting Pidgit.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

As a stage hazard[edit]

Pidgits return as a stage hazard in the returning Mushroom Kingdom II stage.

Spirit[edit]

Pidgit also appears as an Advanced-class support spirit.

In Adventure Mode: World of Light, Pidgit is presumably one of the countless spirits captured by Galeem during his takeover of the universe. After Galeem's defeat, Dharkon takes control of Galeem's spirits, including Pidgit. Pidgit's spirit is located in the Mysterious Dimension sub-dungeon of The Dark Realm. Prior to the battle, the player is quizzed on which spirit was a part of Bowser's army.

Pidgit's Spirit Battle uses a Peach puppet fighter and is fought on the Mushroom Kingdom II stage, which features Pidgit as a stage element. During the battle Peach starts off with a Rocket Belt and increased jump power, referencing the Pidgit's ability to fly using its magic carpet.
