Fox (フォックス, Fox) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Aesthetics

  • Change While Fox retains some design elements from SSB4, he now wears his flight suit and headset from Star Fox Zero. The proportions in his head have been slightly altered, and his fur is more pronounced. Fox now also has visible whiskers.
  • Change Fox now snarls when performing one of his idle animations.
  • Change Fox is still voiced in English by Mike West, his voice actor from Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Zero, but he has new voice clips with a somewhat deeper tone.

Ground attacks

  • Change Fox's jab is slightly re-animated, with him standing more upright rather than lunging forward.
  • Nerf Down tilt has more ending lag.
  • Buff Sourspot down tilt sends opponents at a better angle for combos.
  • Change The ending of Fox's up smash has been reanimated: Fox now does a three point landing after doing his up smash.
  • Nerf Up smash has significantly lower knockback.

Aerial attacks

  • Buff All of Fox's aerials have significantly less landing lag: neutral (11 frames → 7), forward (27 frames → 18), back (15 frames → 9), up (22 frames → 13), & down (25 → 17).
  • Buff Forward aerial has a greater hover effect, aiding Fox's recovery.

Special moves

  • Nerf Fox Illusion will immediately halt when it hits a shielded opponent. It also has more startup lag (21 frames → 24), and more ending lag when used on the ground.
  • Nerf Fox can only stall Reflector once in the air before landing.
  • Change Fox has a new Final Smash involving an Arwing strike.
