Article on Icaruspedia Magnus

Magnus (マグナ, Maguna) is a character from the Kid Icarus series. Debuting in Kid Icarus: Uprising, he is a skilled mercenary with Herculean strength, and is considered the mightiest human swordsman in the world.

Origin

Couldn't find a pic of him swinging the club. Hope this'll do for the time being.
Magnus in Kid Icarus: Uprising.

In Kid Icarus: Uprising, Magnus is a recurring character, being one of three notable human characters. In Magnus and the Dark Lord, whilst human forces are storming one of the Underworld Army's bases, Magnus appears as the only human who has successfully entered the castle during the siege. After a brief conversation, he and Pit team up for the remainder of the chapter because of their common goal of defeating the castle's ruler. Upon reaching the throne room, Magnus and Pit successfully defeat the castle's ruler, Dark Lord Gaol, who is revealed to be both a woman and a long-time friendly rival of Magnus that was enslaved to fight on behalf of the Underworld Army by being forced to wear cursed armor.

Magnus reappears much later during The Ring of Chaos. Upon meeting an excited dog that wants to give him an ornate ring in its mouth, Magnus ultimately decides to wear the ring. As a result, Magnus discovers himself to be possessed by Pit's soul due to its sealing with the ring. Following their reunion, Magnus reveals to Pit that three years have passed since Palutena's Army, the Forces of Nature, and the Underworld Army successfully repelled the Aurum invasion. He also reveals that soon after the invasion, Palutena began warring against humanity for unknown reasons, which included Pit's Body fighting on her behalf. After defeating several Centurions, Magnus and Pit encounter and defeat Pit's Body; upon doing so, they put the ring on Pit's finger and reunite his soul with his body.

Magnus makes his final appearance in The Three Trials. After Pit clears the first of Dyntos' trials, his second trial consists of fighting both Magnus and Gaol in a 2-on-1 battle. Dyntos reveals that instead of forging copies of them, he actually invited the real Magnus and Gaol, the latter of whom reunited with Magnus following the destruction of her cursed armor. Despite Magnus fighting at full strength and Gaol (now a definitive ally for good) reusing her reforged armor's powers, they are ultimately defeated by Pit and give kudos to him for his efforts.

As an Assist Trophy

Magnus appears as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. 4. When summoned, Magnus goes after his ally's opponents and attacks them with downward swings or leg-level sweeps of his sword, dealing high damage and knockback. Magnus is able to run and double jump in a similar manner to his targets to chase them, and is even able to roll after attacking. Unlike most Assist Trophies, he is susceptible to flinching and can be defeated upon receiving sufficient damage, which causes him to kneel and fall down face-first before disappearing.

When summoned, Magnus will say "Sorry I'm late. I had other things to attend to." Once his assisting time is up, Magnus will stop chasing opponents and, before leaving, will say "Well, that was fun!" or "My work is done here, good luck on your own." Although Magnus was originally voiced by Fred Tatasciore in the English version of Kid Icarus: Uprising, he is succeeded by Patrick Seitz in Super Smash Bros. 4 because of scheduling conflicts, similarly to a few other characters from Uprising.

In Smash Tour

Magnus appears as an item in Smash Tour. When selected in a battle, any KO'd opponent will be launched away when the battle ends.

Magnus
Ntsc Magnus is perhaps the mightiest human warrior, and he has weathered countless battles. He seems to prefer working alone, and he can respect the strength of foes like Dark Lord Gaol. However, he seems reluctant—not afraid—to fight Gaol. Is there a connection between these two?
Pal With many years of battlefield experience and a tongue just as sharp as his sword, Magnus is an incredible warrior. Nightmares of his past have led him to become a bit of a lone wolf, but when he clashes with Dark Lord Gaol, it's clear there used to be a strong connection between the two.
