Template:Infobox Final Smash Super Sonic (スーパーソニック, Super Sonic) is Sonic's Final Smash. In the attack, Sonic, using the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, transforms into a very powerful version of himself that is able to fly quickly and KO fighters by ramming into them.
Summary
The screen zooms in on Sonic, and he transforms, using the transformation animation from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. When Sonic transforms, he gains the ability to fly around the stage at an incredible speed. The transformation lasts for about 15 seconds (though this can be extended by ramming into opponents and other things that can take damage, causing him to freeze for a moment), and, while Sonic is transformed, he is completely invincible. He is also unaffected by Bumpers. Sonic can attack in this form by simply ramming into opponents; the faster it's going, the more damage is dealt. When the opponent is attacked, the move deals about 35% but the first attack is roughly 25%, and never lower. It is similar in function to Pikachu's Final Smash, Volt Tackle, except that it cannot go through hard platforms like Volt Tackle can (however, when Sonic is too slow or has stopped moving, he will be unable to go through soft platforms), and has better knockback and control. Super Sonic can't KO himself when he reaches the blast line, regardless of how far it is going, but if he turns back to normal while he's too far away to recover, he'll be penalized with a self-destruct. Sonic's Final Smash is arguably among the strongest in the game, as the player cannot be KO'd or take damage for the entire duration of the transformation (even Wario-Man and Giga Bowser can accidentally self-destruct and are not nearly as fast or powerful). Furthermore, an experienced player who has learned how to control Super Sonic's unwieldy movement can use and abuse his relatively high damage output and insane speed to guarantee multiple KOs.
If used with the Regenerating terrain glitch, the move will instantly end. However, if the glitch is used in Green Hill Zone, Sonic will be able to infinitely fly around under the stage.
The attack was weakened drastically in SSB4, though it is still a potent Final Smash. Also, instead of saying "Now I'll show you!", he now says "Super Sonic style!" upon activating the Final Smash.

The Chaos Emeralds are said to hold enough power to control the whole world. It's that power that turns Sonic into Super Sonic. He turns a glorious golden color and can fly at nearly the speed of light. In his Final Smash, this high-speed flight damages anyone who gets in its way and can even launch them!
Origin
In the Final Smash, the Chaos Emeralds can be seen briefly before Sonic turns into Super Sonic, and once he transforms back into Sonic. In the latter instance, the Chaos Emeralds fly off the screen in 3-D.
In the games, Sonic had to collect all 7 (6 in the first game, therefore he could not transform) Chaos Emeralds in order for him to turn into Super Sonic. In the older games, the Chaos Emeralds were hidden in Special Stages and were treated as the easter egg/unlockable feature in the games (starting with Sonic the Hedgehog 3, other characters were capable of attaining Super forms such as Knuckles). Whilst in Super form, Sonic will act under the influence of the Invincibility and Speed-Up items and gains the ability to fly, drastically increasing his speed and can destroy enemies merely by touch. However, because of his immense speed, the player could easily fall victim to pitfalls, the one thing he is still weak against. In addition, the Super form does not last for long as it consumes the player's Rings constantly, and thus must continue to grab Rings to maintain the state. Beginning with Sonic Adventure (excluding Sonic Shuffle) and up to Sonic Unleashed, Super Sonic is only available for play in the final boss battles which required him to defeat a similarly-powered up major antagonist. Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations, and Sonic Lost World, however, have since allowed Super Sonic to be usable in the games levels as before, with it being the sole availability in Sonic Colors, and unable to be used on any bosses, excluding the Final Boss of Sonic Generations and bosses of Sonic Lost World.

Trivia
- The only force in the game that can affect him is the Isaac Assist Trophy, which with correct timing can cause him to self-destruct.
- There is a glitch with Super Sonic on WarioWare, Inc.. If one floats around the side of the stage in the elevator part, when the microgame starts, Super Sonic will be under the main platform, then go to the middle. When the microgame ends, Super Sonic will be inside the main platform.
- Sonic's quote when starting the move in Super Smash Bros. 4, ("Super Sonic style!") is taken from the console version of Sonic Generations. In particular, it originates from the cutscene before battling the Final Boss, the Time Eater - "Time to scramble some Eggmen, Super Sonic-style!"
- Sonic's English voice clip in Brawl (voiced by Jason Griffith) upon activating the Final Smash was argued by some Brawl players on whether he yelled "Now I'll show you!", or "Here I'll show you!", due to the intense echo of the voice clip and a slight grunt Sonic makes before yelling his line. However, the Smash Bros. DOJO!! described the Final Smash with the quote "Now I'll show you!", and a clip in the game's data without the echo has him clearly yell "Now I'll show you!".
- Due to this Final Smash's long duration, extremely fast speeds, high damage, very high knockback, and ability to pick up multiple KO's, Super Sonic is infamous for being one of the best Final Smashes in Brawl.
