—Introduction Tagline

Terry (テリー, Terry) is an upcoming playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was officially announced in the September 4th, 2019 Nintendo Direct as the fourth downloadable character from the Fighters Pass. He is scheduled to release in November 2019 and classified as Fighter #74.

Attributes

  • Terry's design resembles his appearance in The King of Fighters series, particularly the Maximum Impact games. His animations appear to be modeled after The King of Fighters XII and XIII.
  • He has an animation where he adjusts his cap, most likely as an idle animation or taunt.
  • Similar to Ryu and Ken, unique sound effects are used when hitting opponents instead of the typical knockback sounds. In Terry's case, it's the sound effects from attacks in the original Fatal Fury.
  • The brief gameplay footage released shows him performing two moves from Fatal Fury:
    • Power Wave: A move where Terry kneels forward and punches the ground, launching a projectile that travels along the ground. This is most likely his neutral special.
      • Power Wave is shown to have two speeds, which possibly means that the button can be held to modify it, similar to Ryu and Ken.
    • Burn Knuckle: A move where Terry raises his hands up before launching forward and punching the opponent. This is most likely his side special.
      • Burn Knuckle is shown to resemble the EX version of the move from Fatal Fury, and also has a flash similar to that of Ryu and Ken when they input their moves manually, likely meaning Terry will have a similar command input mechanic.
    • Gameplay and more information can be found here.
