Article on Bulbapedia Psystrike (move)

Psystrike (サイコブレイク, Psycho Break) is Mewtwo's Final Smash.

Description

Mewtwo Mega Evolves into its Mega Mewtwo Y form and uses Psystrike. It throws forward a large energy sphere which can trap multiple opponents: those caught in the blast are held still and receive a mental shock, then they are dealt 30% damage and massive knockback. It can KO Mario from the middle of Final Destination at 52%. This move also ignores invincibility except from that of the Super Star.

Psystrike

Mewtwo's Final Smash starts as Mewtwo Mega Evolves into Mega Mewtwo Y. It then fires a huge psychic projectile that penetrates enemies and obstacles. This projectile doesn't do any damage, but it freezes every foe it hits in place. They can even be frozen midjump! Afterward, every foe hit with the projectile will take a powerful psychic hit to the head.

Origin

Psystrike in Pokémon X and Y.

Psystrike is Mewtwo's signature move, introduced in Generation V and learned at level 100, like many other Legendary Pokemon learn their strongest attacks, like Zekrom's Bolt Strike. Despite being a Special move it uses the target's physical Defense stat when calculating damage. It can be seen as a more powerful and devastating Psyshock.

Mega Mewtwo Y is one of Mewtwo's two possible Mega Evolutions and can be triggered when it is holding a Mewtwonite Y, found only in Pokémon Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. In this form, Mewtwo gains huge boosts in its stats. This transformation causes Mewtwo to become smaller and more childlike rather than larger and more imposing like most other Mega Evolutions, including its own form of Mega Mewtwo X. While the playable Mewtwo is primarily based on the character from the first Pokémon movie, Mega Mewtwo Y first appeared in the anime as an alternate form for a different Mewtwo from the sixteenth movie before its debut in the games. Mega Mewtwo Y was also the first Mega Evolution to be shown, before Game Freak revealed the full concept of Mega Evolution. Before this, Mega Mewtwo Y was referred to as a new form for Mewtwo, called Awakened Form.
