Trivia
- Steve was created by the Swedish video game company Mojang, making him the second DLC fighter that was created outside of Japan.
- The first were Banjo & Kazooie, created by Rare of Great Britain, which coincidentally is also owned by Microsoft.
- After Mr. Game & Watch, Steve is the second playable character to look completely identical to their original appearance, the first third-party character to do so, and the first to come from a conventional video game rather than an LCD game.
- Steve's reveal trailer contains multiple references to Minecraft:
- The Enderman picking up the crate references their affinity for picking up blocks and carrying them around.
- Wolf throwing the Zombie causes it to drop meat, a reference to Rotten Flesh, which is their most common drop.
- Zombie is revealed breaking down a wooden door, which is an ability that Zombies have in Minecraft.
