A Generator (ジェネレーター, Generator) is an object introduced in the Subspace Emissary.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

Generators appear in the Subspace Emissary. They are dark purple portals about the size of Bowser. Their function is to produce enemies (only a specific type for each Generator) until they get destroyed. Each Generator has a limit to how many of its spawns can be alive at any point, halting production if that limit is reached and resuming after some of its spawns have been defeated. They also have a limit to the total number of enemies they can create (the highest being 30), at which point it will stop completely and not disappear even after all of the enemies have been defeated.

Unlike every other enemy in the game (including Jyks), there is no health bar display for a Generator: because of this, there is no way to know how much of a beating it can take. This is mainly because they are treated as stage elements, not enemies.

In Smash Run[edit]

Generators reappear with their Brawl function. They usually spawn Mites but can occasionally spawn other enemies like Skuttlers. They disappear after spawning a certain number of enemies, but they yield bonuses if they are destroyed before then.

Trophy[edit]

NTSC This mysterious, formless entity appears only as a strange spiral in the air, spitting out enemies—mostly mites—and making life difficult for any fighters unlucky enough to deal with them! The faster you defeat them, the more stat boosts they're likely to drop, so hurry up!

Trivia[edit]

  • The Generators did not receive an official name in Brawl and were commonly called "Subspace Generators" upon the game's release. It wasn't until SSB4 that the Generators were given their official name.
