Article on Zelda Wiki Spirit Train

Spirit Train is a stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The stage is based upon the Spirit Train in Nintendo DS title The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which is traveling through New Hyrule. In the Developer Direct, the main theme of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks could be heard during gameplay.

Overview

The battle takes place upon the Spirit Train, which is moving forwards during gameplay. The characters would be left behind if they stood on the train tracks, similarly to the road in Big Blue.

Characters can fight inside the carriage of the train. The roof of the carriage is a soft platform. The train is also towing another platform behind it. Birds will occasionally carry another aerial platform on-screen. Players can also stand on top of the train itself. The train is being driven by Toon Link, in his Spirit Tracks appearance. Toon Link stands in the background, and does not interact with the fighters. However, when Toon Link himself is a participant on this stage during battle, Alfonzo will be conducting the train instead.

The rear carriage will be able to "change" during battle, including being able to detach and move backward.

Origin

The Spirit Train first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, where Link would drive it around New Hyrule to reach various destinations. The Spirit Train's design is how it appears in Spirit Tracks with the Solid Passenger Car, which comes with the train engine itself, and the Trusty Freight Truck add-on. Dark Trains, enemy trains in Spirit Tracks that try ramming into the Spirit Train, also appear in this stage as possible platforms. In this stage, Toon Link wears his engineer outfit from the beginning of Spirit Tracks.
