“ | Diddy Kong multiplies himself and flies around the stage. He sometimes targets an opponent and charges at them. At the end of the attack, Diddy Kong charges at the opponent he damaged the most to launch them. | ” |
—Description from Ultimate's Move List |
Hyper Rocketbarrel (ハイパーバレルジェット, Hyper Barrel Jet) is Diddy Kong's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It replaces his old Final Smash, Rocketbarrel Barrage.
Overview
When used, Diddy activates his Rocketbarrel Pack and dashes across the screen in multiple directions, dealing damage to whoever he punches. After a while, he will lock on to the opponent that has taken the most damage, and unleash one final punch that launches the targeted opponent. After this last attack, he descends back to his original position with his Rocketbarrel Pack, which explodes once he deactivated it before he touches the ground. The explosion can damage nearby opponents.
Origin
Much like his up special and previous Final Smash, this attack takes inspiration from the rocketbarrel jetpack power-up from Donkey Kong 64, where Diddy could use the jetpack to fly around in midair.
Trivia
- Interestingly, Diddy Kong flies across the stage from multiple directions simultaneously (in other words, there appears to be multiple Diddy Kongs that fly around the stage). This can be best seen by slowing down time during training.
- Despite this, only one is represented on the blast zone radar.
