Trivia

  • Sephiroth is the second character to be revealed at a non-Nintendo event/presentation, the first being Joker. Coincidentally, both of them were revealed at the Game Awards (in 2018 and 2020 respectively).
  • Sephiroth is the first character to be a part of a third-party universe while still being an original fighter, as Richter and Ken are Echo Fighters.
  • Interestingly, the Game Awards version of his trailer is labeled Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Final Fantasy, while the YouTube version is labeled as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Final Fantasy VII.
  • Sephiroth is the first Villain Character to be sold as DLC for Ultimate
