[[Image:Beamsword.jpg]]The Beam Sword is a combat item appearing in all [[Super Smash Bros. series|Smash Bros. games]] which is a sword made of light. This item is heavily based upon the Lightsaber from the Star Wars film franchise, and in [[Super Smash Bros. Brawl|Brawl]] its resemblance is even more striking. The original [[Super Smash Bros.]] game even included the Star Wars sound effects of the weapon. The item works the same in all three games as a close range weapon for attacking opponents and smashing them off the stage, but it can extend while attacking in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''. It is pink with a sharp point in the first two games, but blue with a rounded edge in Brawl.  Though the Beam Sword and the Lightsaber are very similar, they are just as different. The Lightsaber goes into its hilt when not used.  Whereas the Beam Sword always appears to be activated.
