Charizard, known in Japan as Lizardon (リザードン, Rizādon), has been confirmed to return as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4. Unlike in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where it was used as one of Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon, it now appears as a stand-alone character.

Confirmed information

  • Charizard's skin appears to be brighter orange than his Brawl appearance.
  • It has a new scratching attack, possibly his new forward aerial.
  • It has a new move where it turns into a fireball and shoots sideways.
  • One of it's Mega Evolutions, Mega Charizard X, has been confirmed to be in the game
  • The following moves appear visually unchanged:
    • Forward tilt
    • Neutral aerial
    • Back throw
    • Flamethrower
    • Up taunt
