Origin[edit]

Giratina is a Ghost/Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation IV, and is a member of the Pokémon of Myth of Sinnoh along with Dialga and Palkia. It is the version mascot of Pokémon Platinum, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #487 as the "Renegade Pokémon". Giratina represents antimatter, and lives in the Distortion World. It has two Formes: the Origin Forme, which it can assume only in the Distortion World or when holding a Griseous Orb (Platinum to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) or Griseous Core (Pokémon Legends: Arceus onwards), and the Altered Forme, under which it appears in SSB4. In Pokémon Platinum, it takes the role held by Dialga/Palkia in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl respectively: Team Galactic attempts to use its power to recreate the universe with Cyrus as a ruler; after defeating Cyrus in the Distortion World the player has a chance to catch Giratina.

Dragon Breath is a Dragon-type Special move with 60 base power and 100% accuracy which has a 30% chance of inflicting the Paralysis status on the target. Giratina knows this move by default at level 1.
