Dabuz is a Smasher from Nesconset, New York who is currently residing in New York City. He is known for being one of the most recognizable Super Smash Bros. players since the 2010s, finding success across three different Smash titles, as well as one of the greatest Smash players in the Tristate area. He is the greatest Rosalina & Luma player of all time across Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and also stands as one of the greatest Olimar players across the series, alongside Shuton.
Dabuz began as an Olimar player in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He gained fame as a prominent online player, winning many online tournaments, All is Brawl playoffs, and GameBattles playoffs. He eventually saw success in the offline metagame, particularly winning IMPULSE and placing 7th at Apex 2013, establishing himself as the best Olimar player in North America.
Dabuz found even greater success in Super Smash Bros. 4, in which he mained Rosalina & Luma with Olimar as a secondary. He is considered the greatest Rosalina & Luma player of all time, winning a total of 6 majors during the game's prime, and the second-best Olimar player of all time behind Shuton, having used Olimar successfully as a counterpick against multiple top-level players. He especially dominated the New York City scene, earning him the nickname the "King of New York". Likewise, Dabuz was a top 5 player for most of Smash 4's competitive lifespan, and was eventually ranked 4th on the PGR 100; as such, he is often considered one of the greatest Smash 4 players of all time.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dabuz was initially an Olimar main and, alongside Shuton and Myran, spearheaded Olimar's metagame in the early months of competitive play. Following Olimar's nerfs, however, Dabuz picked up Rosalina & Luma as a co-main before she became his de-facto main in the post-pandemic metagame, though he maintained Olimar as a frequent counterpick character. He is widely considered the greatest Rosalina & Luma player of all time, and remains the second-best Olimar player of all time behind Shuton. He was also considered a top 10 player from the early metagame to 2021, and remained the undisputed "King of New York" until Zomba's rise in the post-pandemic metagame.
Dabuz uses a creative approach and damage output with Rosalina and Luma and Olimar. With Rosalina, he can choose to play the long game and stuff out opponent's approaches by whiff punishing them with up smash or neutral air out of shield. He also has above average edgeguarding because he knows of Rosalina's floatiness and her amazing recovery, allowing him to travel deep. When Dabuz utilizes Luma, his innovative techniques allow him to rack up tons of damage and combo into hard hits to secure himself a KO. When Dabuz is at a disadvantage, he uses Luma to prevent his opponent from trying to extend the combo on Rosalina since she is a tall lightweight. Since his trip to Japan in 2023, he has made more use of detethered Luma to exercise more stage control.[1]
On the other hand, Dabuz uses Olimar as a bait-and-punish playstyle. He has a wide knowledge of all the Pikmins' strengths and weaknesses and the memorization of the order Olimar plucks them. He knows all the status effects each Pikmin contains. As an example, he utilizes Blue Pikmin's up throw to score easy KOs as it is the strongest among other Pikmin. Dabuz is notorious for repeatedly using Olimar's strong and safe up smash because it is a highly damaging combo tool. He also camps with Pikmin to gain any lead and just like Rosalina, he chooses to play the long game.
As Dabuz did not want to be ranked this season, he initially attended just enough events to not meet the attendance requirement; however, following changes to the requirements mid-season he inadvertently qualified. As such, he was allowed to opt out of the LumiRank ranking for this season.
Sora was only mentioned on the second player card, which lists every character that was used in the season instead of characters that won notable sets.
