2GGT: ZeRo Saga was a national Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament and the one year anniversary event of the 2GGT tournament series. For the first time in the series, it was a three-day event, and was held at a new venue: the Rio Hotel at Las Vegas, Nevada, from December 16th-18th, 2016. True to its namesake, ZeRo was a starring guest at the tournament. A pot bonus of $20,021.50 was also in play, $10,000.00 of that thanks to a partnership with Collegiate Colosseum, and the rest thanks to donations at the 2GGift Shop. Hero to ZeRo was a qualifier for this event.

Side events[edit]
USA vs World crew battle[edit]
Six of the best USA players faced off against six of the best foreign players from Japan, Canada, Mexico, and the Netherlands in a crew battle with ZeRo and Ally being the team captains for USA and World respectively. Each participant had access to their own modified main character costume customized and colored based on their country's flag, designed by Keith. It ended in a dominant victory for the World crew with 8 stocks left.
ZeRo's Runback[edit]
ZeRo played against every player who had defeated him in bracket since the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (with the exceptions of Mew2King, who was not in attendance, Mr. ConCon, due to a late flight[1], and Dabuz, who declined) in a gauntlet-styled event. He did not lose a set.
- In line with every past 2GGT saga, the "Saga Curse" continues as ZeRo was sent to Losers by Ally in winners quarters and eliminated by MkLeo in losers semis.
