Trivia

• This tournament stands as CaptainZack's worst placing since his 97th place finish at CEO 2016, placing 49th losing to Arhungry and Kuma.
• This is Zain's first win at a major as well as the first major win in Melee for someone in the MD/VA area since Azen at Viva La Smashtaclysm in 2007. In addition, Zain became the first "documentary kid" to win a major.
• This is the first time that Hungrybox had lost to a Marth player since PewPewU at Apex 2015.
• In response to the Jacksonville shooting earlier that day, a moment of silence was held before Super Smash Bros. Melee grand finals.
