CEO Dreamland, officially Community Effort Orlando Dreamland, was a tournament held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida, on April 14th-16th, 2017. It was announced on November 29th, 2016[1], and registration opened on December 16th.
The event was held just before CEO's 8th main edition, CEO 2017. The event was almost entirely focused on Smash, featuring singles and doubles tournaments for Super Smash Bros, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as well as side events for Rivals of Aether and Brawlhalla. On the announcement day, Jebailey stated that he would add Super Smash Bros. Brawl to the game lineup if his tweet reached 5000 retweets[2]. It eventually did on November 30th and Brawl singles and doubles were added as an official event[3].
Aftermath[edit]
CEOGaming reported a $20,000 loss following the CEO Dreamland event a few days after it ended. CEOGaming owner Alex Jebailey stated that Dreamland would need a minimum of 2,000 attendees in order to be considered a success. He also stated that there are no plans to run a follow-up event any time soon. However, Jebailey did mention that Dreamland scheduling did conflict with Easter Holiday and Star Wars Celebration which resulted in it being the first technical failing for a CEOGaming event. This failing is also due to the significant amount of quality put into the event.[4][5]
