Tournament:CEO Dreamland 2020
|
CEO Dreamland 2020 was a national tournament that was held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida, on March 13th-15th, 2020. The event was almost entirely focused on Smash, featuring singles and doubles tournaments for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Smash Bros. Melee, as well as singles tournaments for Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Singles and doubles events for both Rivals of Aether and Brawlhalla were also hosted, in addition to tournaments for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Party 2. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, many players - including top players such as Light, Maister, Dabuz, and Salem for Ultimate and Axe and Wizzrobe for Melee - dropped out, resulting in many refunds being given. As a result, Alex Jebailey set up a PayPal donation to ensure that the staff and bills would get paid.[1] CEO Dreamland was meant to be the first stop on the 2020 Smash World Tour for both Ultimate and Melee, but its Smash World Tour points and its Gold tier were removed on March 12, 2020 following a statement addressing the pandemic.[2] CEO Dreamland 2020 was the last national in North America to take place until InfinityCON Tally 2021, more than a year later.
