CEO 2026 was a fighting game tournament featuring Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It takes place in Orlando, Florida from August 14th-16th, 2026. It was the first CEO since CEO 2022 to host a major-level Smash event, with the Melee singles event being a major despite Zain and Joshman dropping out.
Tournament summary[edit]
Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]
This event ended Cody Schwab's 5-tournament winning streak, starting with Québecup 2025. Cody handily defeated almost every player in his path, but lost to Hungrybox in a game 5 set during Winners Finals. After that, he promptly defeated Wizzrobe for a spot in Grand Finals. Hungrybox, the CEO 2025 champion, was on a similarly dominant path, only dropping games to Kola, JChu, and Cody. Ultimately, the stage was set for a tense Grand Finals, as despite Cody's large lifetime set count over Hungrybox, Hungrybox was one of two players to take a set off of Cody during the SSBMRank Summer 2026 season. Cody was ultimately able to reset the bracket in another game 5 set, and the Reset similarly went to game 5, making for a 15-game encounter. The two were neck and neck in the final game, but Cody was startled by Hungrybox shouting during a tense moment at the left ledge, startling him and halting all of his momentum. After Cody flubbed a stock, Hungrybox would up-throw rest to close out the bracket, winning his first major of 2026. With this, Hungrybox also became the first player to eliminate and double-eliminate Cody Schwab in 2026.
Outside of this, this was a breakout event for Paladin, who defeated MOF and Gahtzu to make it to top 8. He was promptly defeated by Preeminent for 7th place. Alongside Paladin's run was the performance of JChu, who defeated Wevans and Panda before losing to Wizzrobe to finish 7th as well. With Axe's presence in top 8, this marked the first time in Melee history where multiple Pikachu players placed in top 8 of a major.
Following Kola's best Melee tournament performance at Get On My Level 2026 two weeks prior, he had another strong showing, placing 13th with a win on prof.
