Smash 64 combo contest[edit]Inspired by the NBA Dunk Contest, this unique event allows Smash 64 players to show off their technical skills in front of a large audience. Players have 2 minutes to perform any 'combo' of their choosing (a combo is a string of hits that ends in a KO, where the opponent does not touch the ground). Nothing is off limits; all characters, maps and items can be used. Once the combo is finished, a panel of 5 judges give them a score from 1-10. The players with the most points move forward in the bracket, while those with the bottom scores are eliminated. There are just 3 rounds of elimination, and the contest usually runs about 1 hour. Super Smash Con 2016 was the first to introduce the Combo Contest, and it has quickly become a fan-favorite with the videos garnering over 1 million views on YouTube. (7 entrants)
Smashies Awards[edit]The night of August 12th was when the inaugural Smashies Awards hosted by Coney, took place, where awards were given to players nominated for different categories.
