Super Smash Con 2016 was the 2nd edition of the "Super Smash Con", a video game convention and national tournament focused on the Super Smash Bros. series, held in Chantilly, Virginia, from August 11th-14th, 2016. The event hosted singles and doubles tournaments for all four Smash games, and is currently the largest Smash 64 tournament to date and the seventh largest Smash 4 tournament of all time.

Smash Masters exhibitions

Rules: All 4 Smash games are played in a best-of-three format (5 stocks for Smash 64, 4 for Melee, 3 for Brawl, and 2 for Smash 4). A big victory is earned by winning a game with a high enough amount of stocks left (3 for Smash 64/Melee and 2 for Brawl/Smash 4).

The winner is determined

• first by sets won
• second by games won
• third by "big victories".

Trivia

• TSM-sponsored smashers Leffen and ZeRo, both of whom had respectively won Super Smash Con 2015 in Melee and Smash 4, notably failed to defend their titles.
  • Leffen could not defend his Melee title in any capacity, due to his ongoing visa issues surrounding his sponsor.
  • ZeRo finished in 13th after losing to Day in the winner's bracket and Ally in the loser's bracket. This finish stood as his worst placing in a Smash 4 tournament until his 49th place finish at 2GGC: Civil War.
• Mew2King also failed to defend his title in Brawl singles, losing to V115 in winner's bracket and Ally in loser's bracket, finishing at 9th place.
