Article on Super Mario Wiki Kat and Ana

Kat & Ana (カット&アナ, Kat & Ana) are recurring characters of the WarioWare series.

OriginEdit

Kat and Ana as depicted in official artwork for WarioWare: Touched!, the basis of their design in Brawl.

Kat & Ana, whose names are a pun on the word katana, are young twin ninjas, each with pink and orange hair respectively, who adore living things, specially animals and flowers. They've debuted in the first WarioWare game, and have appeared in nearly every game in the series since then generally as employees of WarioWare, Inc. In each new title, they offer a different short story with a set of microgames to go with it.

Kat & Ana's microgames will focus on either a specific type of controller input, such as drawing on the Nintendo DS touch screen like in WarioWare: Touched!, or as having all of them have a specific theme around them, such as all of them being related to nature like in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!

They are depicted as kindergarten students, but they're also skilled ninjas and are typically seen fighting large monsters with a variety of ninjutsu skills. Kat, the oldest out of the two, is typically determined and strong willed, and is also the one who tends to take down most of the bad guys they encounter. Ana, the youngest out of the two, is generally more quiet and watchful, while always being happy to accompany Kat in many of their adventures.

Their appearance as Assist Trophies may have been inspired by the attack Kat performs on the Elephant Ogre in WarioWare: Smooth Moves, as while it merely involves Kat and clones of herself she created, the slashes she performs are similar.

In Super Smash Bros. BrawlEdit

As an Assist TrophyEdit

Kat & Ana appear as Assist Trophy characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Kat and Ana use a special dance combination, in which they fly in from various locations off-screen and cross over at the summoner's opponent(s). Any characters that make contact with either Kat or Ana will take 10% damage. If Kat and Ana both hit, characters that are caught in the X will take 20% damage. Kat & Ana are the Assist Trophy parallels to the Pokémon Latias and Latios.

An interesting fact to note is that their voices are ripped directly from the voice samples in WarioWare: Smooth Moves for the Wii. Upon being summoned, the duo will say either "Ninja!" or "Katana!".

TrophyEdit

Both of the girls are still very young, but they're also very respectful and address their superiors as budding ninjas should. Kat and Ana have a soft spot for living things. Kat loves cats, and Ana is attracted to flowers.

In Super Smash Bros. 4Edit

As an Assist TrophyEdit

Kat & Ana reappear as Assist Trophy characters, filling the same role they played in the previous game. They now sport their design from Game & Wario.

As a background characterEdit

Ana by herself can appear as two different stickers decorating Gamer. One of them appears on the right side of the main platform, while the other appears on a large solid platform that can randomly appear in the middle of the stage.

In Smash TourEdit

Kat & Ana's trophy is one of the red items in Smash Tour. When it is used before a battle, the user will automatically tech all collisions with walls and ceilings for the duration of that battle.

Telling these twin sisters apart is easy: Kat's hair is pink; Ana's is orange. They both go to Diamond City Kindergarten, love nature, and train as ninjas with the Iga clan. In this game, they deliver an impressive joint cross-slash attack with the gigantic high-tech swords Dr. Crygor made them.

In Super Smash Bros. UltimateEdit

Although Kat & Ana no longer appear as an Assist Trophy, the two Ana stickers still appear on Gamer, and they also appear together as a master spirit.

As a background characterEdit

The two Ana stickers appear on the same spots as they were before, now using artwork from WarioWare Gold.

SpiritEdit

Kat & Ana appear as a master spirit. Their dojo is located in the wasteland section of the Light Realm in World of Light.

Their spirit battle has two Sheiks, a pink and orange one respectively, as puppet fighters on Suzaku Castle, with only throwable items spawning and the enemies constantly jumping.
