Weapon is an attack supertype in the Super Smash Bros. series that encompasses hits with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, including swords, bows, guns, umbrellas, etc. The Weapon supertype is subdivided into several subtypes: Sword, Hammer, Bow, Bat, Umbrella, Whip, and Weapon (Other).
Weapon attacks are boosted by Weapon Attack stickers in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's The Subspace Emissary and the Support Spirit skills Weapon Attack ↑ and Weapon Attack & Move Speed ↑ as well as certain Spirit Battle conditions in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In Ultimate, it is also resisted by the Support Spirit skill and Adventure Skill Weapon Resist ↑.
Sword attacks, which are a subtype of weapon attacks, are boosted by the Primary Spirit trait Sword Attack ↑ in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
In Ultimate 'bow' was renamed to 'palutena' in the code, likely because the only attacks that have the type come from Palutena's Bow. In Super Smash Bros. 4 Olimar's first custom up special (Winged Pikmin Jump) is the only move in the series with this type that doesn't come from Palutena's Bow, however it doesn't do any damage.
