Weapon is an attack supertype in the Super Smash Bros. series that encompasses hits with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, including swords, bows, guns, umbrellas, etc. The Weapon supertype is also subdivided into several subtypes for specific classes of weapons: Sword, Hammer, Sacred, Bat, Umbrella, and Whip.
Weapon attacks are boosted by Weapon Attack stickers in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's The Subspace Emissary and the support spirit skills Weapon Attack ↑ and Weapon Attack & Move Speed ↑ as well as certain Spirit Battle conditions in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In Ultimate, it is also resisted by the support spirit skill and Adventure Skill Weapon Resist ↑.
Sword attacks, which are a subtype of weapon attacks, are boosted by the primary spirit trait Sword Attack ↑ in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Many characters use objects to attack that do not fit into any subclass of Weapon. In Ultimate, this type is internally referred to as "object".

The Sword subtype is used for swords.

The Hammer subtype is used for hammers.
List of sacred attacks
The Sacred subtype is intended to represent the goddess-powered weapons used by Pit (and Dark Pit). It was previously referred to as Bow due to earlier games not making it evident that it was not simply for "attacks made by bows", with Link's bows assumed to be an accidental omission. In Ultimate, this type is internally referred to as "palutena".
Notably, Olimar's first custom up special (Winged Pikmin Jump) in SSB4 is Sacred-type. This is presumably an error, possibly by copy-pasting a similar hitbox from Pit. As the hitbox does no damage, its type has no effect.

The Bat subtype is purportedly used for bats. It is not used for the Home-Run Bat for unclear reasons.
