The Alola form of Vulpix is one of its two forms that appear in Ultimate. Once summoned, it will attack fighters with Icy Wind, blowing a gust of chilling air towards their target, inflicting damage and temporarily freezing them once they come into contact with the attack, similar to the Ice Climbers' Blizzard.

Vulpix is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue, though it was exclusive to Blue, acting as the equivalent to Growlithe. It evolves into Ninetales with the help of a Fire Stone.

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, several Generation I Pokémon alternatively had Alolan regional variants, which have adapted for the differing habitats from their origin region — among those was Vulpix; whom its species adapted as an Ice-type variant, with its evolution now requiring an Ice Stone; and Ninetales, adapted as an Ice/Fairy-type both exclusive to Sun and Ultra Sun. All regional variants have differing visual traits to make them recognizable from their origin species; Alolan Vulpix, in comparison to its origin species, noticeably has a slimmer body, rounder ear shape and a different curly fur pattern on its head and tails. Appearances in media other than games include an Alolan Vulpix nicknamed "Snowy" (シロン, Shiron) featured in the Sun and Moon animated series as Lillie's first Pokémon, having hatched from an egg.

Fire Spin is a Fire-type special move with 35 base power, 85% accuracy and the ability to trap and continue damaging the opponent for 4-5 turns. Vulpix is able to learn the move by reaching level 15.

Icy Wind is an Ice-type special move with 55 base power, 100% accuracy and the ability to slow down the target and any adjacent Pokémon's Speed stat by one stage. Alolan Vulpix is able to learn the move by reaching level 15.

Trivia

  • Vulpix is the first Poké Ball Pokémon to appear alongside an alternative version of itself, being its Alolan Form.
