Item class Throwing

The Deku Nut (デクの(), deku no mi) is an item from The Legend of Zelda series. These small items may look like food, but are actually a throwable item. Once thrown at an opponent, it will stun them for a brief moment.

Origin

[1]
A Deku Nut as it originally appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Deku Nuts appear in the Nintendo 64 game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and its direct sequel Majora's Mask, though in a different fashion. Deku Nuts take the appearance of ordinary nuts except they are filled with a special substance that can stun an individual if the nut is damaged. Deku Nuts can be found mainly around the Kokiri Forest region. Deku Babas also emit Deku Nuts when they are defeated. Link can use the Deku Nuts to stun certain enemies in the game. Impa and Sheik also use a Deku Nut or an item similar to a Deku Nut to conceal their departure from a certain area. The Deku Nut also appears in Twilight Princess as a throwable object instead of an item that Link can collect.

In the Super Smash Bros series

The Deku Nut is a type of explosive item in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When it explodes by being thrown, attacked, or timed out, any character in its blast range (including the thrower) becomes stunned, making them vulnerable to a free hit. Characters cannot be stunned when airborne; instead the Deku Nut does 18% damage and has high KO potential.

Trophy (1)

Deku Nuts
Items that explode in a flash of blinding light shortly after they appear or when they take damage. Those caught in a blast will be dazed and immobile for a few moments. If the item is thrown, it has the same effect on whomever it hits. In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Deku Nuts stunned enemies and were indispensable when Link was surrounded.
