Seibugeki 19 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate superregional held in Hachioji-shi, Tokyo, Kantō on August 10th, 2025.
Tournament summary[edit]
Although the previous Seibugeki at the start of the year was a supermajor with 3 top 10 players according to the LumiRank 2024.2 ranking (Miya, Shuton and Asimo), this edition was way less stacked, as it was held on the same weekend as Supernova 2025 in the USA (which featured Shuton, Miya, Raru and Doramigi, among others) and Sumabato SP 61 (which featured Asimo) in Kansai. As a result, acola was the only top 30 player registered; therefore, the event is not considered a major on SmashWiki despite being considered A+ tier on the LumiRank 2025 TTS.
Despite being the clear first seed of the tournament, acola ended up at 9th place, only the third time he didn't make top 8 at a tournament, and the second time in Japan, the first one being the 12th edition of the Seibugeki series, in December 2022. He lost in winner's top 32 to #16 seed Uame 1-3 (upset factor 7) and in loser's top 8 qualifier to #7 seed Reno 2-3 (UF 5).
The player who won the tournament is #14 seed Tameigo, following his great run to 4th at DELTA 11 two months before. The R.O.B main reached winner's quarters with only one game dropped to #35 seed Kept, before first upsetting #6 seed Taikei 3-1 (UF 3) to enter top 8 winner side. He then defeated both #31 seed Lax's Chrom and Roy 3-1 before facing #5 seed Rimu in winner's finals. Tameigo upset the Min Min main (UF 3) to make grand finals winner side. On the loser's side was Uame, who after upsetting acola, was send to loser's by Rimu before defeating Reno at 5th 3-0, Lax at 4th 3-1 and winning his runback against Rimu 3-1 (UF 3). But the R.O.B main defeated both Uame's Olimar and Rosalina & Luma in a close game 5 set to win his first A-Tier, the first player seeded outside of top 12 to win a A-Tier event or higher since Raki's victory at Sumabato SP 53 in December 2024 as the thirteen seed.
Lax, the best Chrom player in Japan, made the best post-pandemic Chrom main run so far. As the 31st seed, he notably upset Reno in winner's quarters 3-1 (UF 4) and #4 seed Akakikusu in a close game 5 set (UF 6), losing to Tameigo and Uame both in 1-3's for 4th place. However, it's important to note that Lax also used several other characters, such as Roy against #111 Kogeta Gohan or Sora against #63 seed Nako. In adition to him, Tameigo and Uame, #25 seed Midorun was the last non top 8 seed to enter top 8. The Pit main, famous for his victory over Shuton at Kyokkan 9 in March 2025, reached winner's quarters by upsetting #8 seed Gachipi 3-0 (UF 4) and #24 seed Naocha 3-1. Sent to loser's by Uame, he lastly defeated #13 seed Kurofune in a close game 5 set to make top 8, before losing to Akakikusu in a another game 5 set.
Similar to the first seed acola, #2 seed Rarikkusu also finished at 9th place, losing 1-2 to Nako very early (UF 10, the biggest of the tournament), and after a short loser's run (where he eliminated #8 seed Gachipi at 13th 3-0), to Akakikusu's Sora and Hero in a game 5 set. #3 seed Yaura severely underperformed, as he placed 17th, losing to Kept 1-3 (UF 8) and Naocha 2-3 (UF 6), his worst result since his return to competitive Smash. Lastly, outside of top 8 seeds, #10 seed Toriguri finished at 33rd, losing to #74 seed Kenchi 1-2 (UF 6) and #9 seed M0tsunabE 0-3, who was upset the round prior by Naocha. #18 seed Lunamado went 2-2, losing to Kogeta Gohan 0-2 (UF 5) and #47 seed Ike 1-2 for 97th, while #20 seed Umeki went 1-2, losing to #237 seed Ict Sangyo 1-2 (UF 7) and #84 seed yaya 0-2 (UF 4) for 129th place.
