The Trophy Stand (スマッシュプレート, Smash Plate) is an item that is used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary mode. Upon being thrown, the user will go through a spinning windup before releasing the Trophy Stand in the chosen direction. If it doesn't hit an enemy, it can be picked up again, but there is a chance it might despawn. If it hits an enemy, it will either deal moderately high damage, or capture the enemy as a trophy. If the damage from the trophy stand is enough to KO the enemy, it is a guaranteed capture. Otherwise, the odds of a successful capture varies depending on the enemy, and how much HP they have remaining.

Trophy Stands appear more commonly on higher difficulties, which serves to reward a player for choosing them as well as making strong and rare trophies of boss enemies harder to obtain. Certain stickers can be used to increase the drop rate. Also, a Trophy Stand may appear after defeating three enemies at once.

List of Trophy Stand exclusive trophies[edit]

All Trophy Stand-exclusive trophies are from enemies fought in The Subspace Emissary, although not all enemies can be captured with a Trophy Stand (see Trivia).

Trophy[edit]

Humorously, there exists a Trophy Stand trophy, which depicts a trophy stand on top of a trophy stand. It is amongst the usual randomly-collectable trophies and can be unlocked through the Coin Launcher.

Trivia[edit]

  • A Trophy Stand cannot turn a Jyk into a trophy, since Jyks are invincible. Similarly, the Porky Statue and Mizzo trophies cannot be obtained this way, because Mizzo are only in the display room of the Halberd and the Porky Statue is undamagable. The trophies for these opponents are instead unlocked through alternative means.
