Bomber (ボンバー) is an enemy from the Kirby series.

Bomber appears as a trophy in Brawl, as one of the random trophies for the player to collect.

Trophy description

One dangerous dude—as evidenced by the skull drawn on his body. Bomber walks around on two legs, but whenever he falls from stairs or other high places, he hits his head and explodes, covering a significant blast radius. Kirby can suck him up to learn the Crash ability, the ultimate weapon for wiping out every last enemy on the screen. Use it once and it's gone!

Bomber reappears as a trophy in Smash 4, exclusively in the 3DS version.

If you think a bit of mystery is the spice of life, you'll be disappointed here. If it looks like a bomb and explodes like a bomb...it's a bomb! A cute bomb, though, I admit. If he falls or bumps into something, he'll explode. With the right timing, you can throw him at enemies and do loads of damage!

Bomber appears as an item. It spawns walking around, similarly to a Bob-omb. If left alone for long enough, or it walks off an edge and falls onto a surface below, it detonates in a huge, powerful explosion that slows down time just beforehand. Unlike in its original Kirby appearance, it may choose to turn around upon reaching an edge.

The Bomber can also be used as a held item. When picked up, the user will lift it above their head for several seconds, much like the Special Flag. Eventually, this will slow down time before the Bomber detonates, resulting in a massive explosion around the user that deals heavy damage and knockback to any nearby opponents; this does not harm the user. However, if held and left unused, the Bomber will eventually detonate after a set timer, which can harm the user as well. The explosion deals more damage if the victim is closer to its center.

Origin

Bomber debuted in Kirby's Adventure, and has appeared in most Kirby games since. It is often found near ledges from which it promptly falls off, detonating on impact with the ground or Kirby and creating a large explosion. When inhaled, it gives the exclusive Crash ability, which defeats all onscreen enemies instantly and deals large damage to bosses.

Trivia

• Bomber's trophy in Smash 3DS is flipped from its Brawl trophy pose.
• Much like the Waddle Doos from Waddle Dee Throw, Kirby does not gain the Crash ability upon inhaling a Bomber, unlike in his home series. In Ultimate, he simply takes damage identically to inhaling any other explosive item.
