Apex 2014 was the fifth edition of the Apex tournament series, a fighting game tournament held annually in New Jersey, which took place on January 17th-19th, 2014, at the DoubleTree Hotel.
Despite its focus on the Smash Bros series, the event also hosted other popular fighting games and a competitive Pokémon X and Y tournament. Apex 2014 currently stands as one of the largest Smash tournaments to date with 629 entrants for Super Smash Bros. Melee and the third largest tournament to date for Project M (behind Paragon Los Angeles 2015 and The Even Bigger Balc), with 382 entrants.
