DLC Spirits is a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate mode added in update 3.0.0 where players can collect Spirits based on downloadable content. The background and the music of the menu is themed after the respective series. Unlike the Spirit Board, if the player defeats the spirit, then they get it right away instead of trying to shoot it. Spirit battles in this mode can be played as many times as the player wants, as they have unlimited tries and will not vanish once cleared. This mode also has multiple pages if there are more than eight spirits from a given board, which is not found on the Spirit Board. Starting with update 4.0.0, different Spirit Board menus for each Challenger Pack DLC are selectable with unreleased options labeled as "COMING SOON". The only way to access spirits on the DLC boards without the DLC being purchased is by spending gold on them in the vault shop. Furthermore, it is impossible to play the spirit battles elsewhere.

Trivia
*Tekken is the only DLC spirit board that does not contain a support spirit of the Legend-class.
**Each of these spirits contains a unique ability not featured on any other spirit in the game including Heihachi Mishima's Primary spirit trait.
*Xenoblade Chronicles is the only DLC Spirit Board to contain more than one spirit of the Legend-class; Malos and Pneuma.
**It is also the only DLC Spirit Board that doesn't use a song from its corresponding Challenger Pack as its menu music.
*Persona is the only DLC Spirit Board which contains recycled artwork, with Morgana appearing in both the Morgana and Phantom Thieves of Heart Spirit Battle.
*Dragon Quest is the only DLC Spirit Board to have had a spirit added to its board after its release (Tockles).
*Banjo-Kazooie and Xenoblade Chronicles are the only DLC Spirit Boards to have spirit artwork specifically created for Ultimate, similar to a handful of the Castlevania spirits.
**However, Pneuma's spirit artwork was made by Masatsugu Saito due to Pneuma herself lacking a full-size portrait in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, while the Banjo-Kazooie DLC Spirit board spirits (minus Mumbo Jumbo and Jiggy) used renders based on their models from Spiral Mountain.
*Fatal Fury is the only DLC Spirit Board:
**To feature spirits outside of its universe.
**Whose background and music are themed around the corresponding fighter rather than a series or game.
*ARMS and Xenoblade Chronicles are the only DLC Spirit Boards to contain pre-existing spirits, with the spirits in question being:
**Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara, and Twintelle for ARMS.
**Rex, Nia, Tora, Poppi α, Mòrag, and Zeke for Xenoblade Chronicles.
**Min Min, Pyra, and Mythra were left out due to already being fighters.
**Some of these spirits may still appear on the regular Spirit Board. Of note, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara and Poppi α did not have Spirit Battles before the release of their corresponding DLC Spirit Boards, and could only be obtained via summoning.
*Dragon Quest, Banjo-Kazooie, and Kingdom Hearts are the only DLC Spirit Boards to have only one page of spirits, given they have no more than eight spirits on the board.
*Fatal Fury and ARMS are the only DLC Spirit Boards to not feature the Challenger Pack's corresponding stage as the background, instead featuring West Albuquerque from Fatal Fury 2 and a poster containing multiple ARMS respectively.
*Fatal Fury and Final Fantasy are the only DLC Spirit Boards whose respective fighters do not take part in any Spirit Battles therein.
*Fatal Fury, ARMS, Xenoblade Chronicles and Tekken are the only DLC Spirit Boards to have no two Spirit Battles share the same music, including the menu music.
**Conversely, the Persona Spirit Board has six Spirit Battles that use Last Surprise as their music, the most of any DLC Spirit Board.
*The art representing the Fatal Fury Spirit Board on the DLC Spirits selection screen repurposes the fireball from Mario's SSB4 render.
*The Minecraft Spirit Board's background shows a rotating panorama of a Minecraft map, reminiscent of Minecrafts title screen as of the 2019 Village & Pillage update.
*While most of the contents of Challenger Pack 8 were available via the Sephiroth Challenge starting from December 17, 2020, its corresponding spirits were not released until Challenger Pack 8's official release on December 22, 2020.

"DLC Spirits" redirects here. For all spirits that appear as DLC, see Downloadable content (SSBU)/List of DLC Spirits.
The main selection menu for the mode, allowing players to select the Spirit Board of a specific Challenger Pack from Fighters Pass Vol. 1 & 2.

DLC Spirits is a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate mode added in Version 3.0.0 where players can collect spirits based on each respective Challenger Pack, with the background and music of the menu of each DLC Spirit Board being themed after it.

Unlike the Spirit Board, Spirit Battles in this mode can be played as many times as the player wants, and if the player defeats a spirit, they get it right away instead of having to shoot it, much like in World of Light. These boards can also have multiple pages if there are more than eight spirits in a given board (excluding enhanced spirits).

In 3.0.0, the DLC Spirits button originally went straight to Persona's Spirit Board, but starting with Version 4.0.0, the selection was changed to a menu containing the various Spirit Boards for each Challenger Pack of Fighters Pass Vol. 1 & 2, with the options for the unreleased boards being labeled as "COMING SOON". Starting with Version 8.0.0, the menu was expanded to two columns with content from Fighters Pass Vol. 1 appearing on the left column and Vol. 2 appearing on the right column. The only way to access spirits exclusive to the DLC boards without the DLC being purchased is by spending Gold on them in the Vault Shop or finishing Classic Mode with any fighter, although their Spirit Battles cannot be rematched in the Spirit List.

Completing all the Spirit Battles on a board will reward the player with 10,000 Gold.

    • Each of these spirits contains a unique ability not featured on any other spirit in the game including Heihachi Mishima's Primary spirit trait.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles is the only DLC Spirit Board to contain more than one spirit of the Legend-class; Malos and Pneuma.
    • It is also the only DLC Spirit Board that doesn't use a song from its corresponding Challenger Pack as its menu music.
  • Persona is the only DLC Spirit Board which contains recycled artwork, with Morgana appearing in both the Morgana and Phantom Thieves of Heart Spirit Battle.
  • Dragon Quest is the only DLC Spirit Board to have had a spirit added to its board after its release (Tockles).
  • Banjo-Kazooie and Xenoblade Chronicles are the only DLC Spirit Boards to have spirit artwork specifically created for Ultimate, similar to a handful of the Castlevania spirits.
    • However, Pneuma's spirit artwork was made by Masatsugu Saito due to Pneuma herself lacking a full-size portrait in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, while the Banjo-Kazooie DLC Spirit board spirits (minus Mumbo Jumbo and Jiggy) used renders based on their models from Spiral Mountain.
  • Fatal Fury is the only DLC Spirit Board:
    • To feature spirits outside of its universe.
    • Whose background and music are themed around the corresponding fighter rather than a series or game.
  • ARMS and Xenoblade Chronicles are the only DLC Spirit Boards to contain pre-existing spirits, with the spirits in question being:
    • Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara, and Twintelle for ARMS.
    • Rex, Nia, Tora, Poppi α, Mòrag, and Zeke for Xenoblade Chronicles.
    • Min Min, Pyra, and Mythra were left out due to already being fighters.
    • Some of these spirits may still appear on the regular Spirit Board. Of note, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara and Poppi α did not have Spirit Battles before the release of their corresponding DLC Spirit Boards, and could only be obtained via summoning.
  • Dragon Quest, Banjo-Kazooie, and Kingdom Hearts are the only DLC Spirit Boards to have only one page of spirits, given they have no more than eight spirits on the board.
  • Fatal Fury and ARMS are the only DLC Spirit Boards to not feature the Challenger Pack's corresponding stage as the background, instead featuring West Albuquerque from Fatal Fury 2 and a poster containing multiple ARMS respectively.
  • Fatal Fury and Final Fantasy are the only DLC Spirit Boards whose respective fighters do not take part in any Spirit Battles therein.
  • Fatal Fury, ARMS, Xenoblade Chronicles and Tekken are the only DLC Spirit Boards to have no two Spirit Battles share the same music, including the menu music.
    • Conversely, the Persona Spirit Board has six Spirit Battles that use Last Surprise as their music, the most of any DLC Spirit Board.
  • The art representing the Fatal Fury Spirit Board on the DLC Spirits selection screen repurposes the fireball from Mario's SSB4 render.
  • The Minecraft Spirit Board's background shows a rotating panorama of a Minecraft map, reminiscent of Minecraft's title screen as of the 2019 Village & Pillage update.
  • While most of the contents of Challenger Pack 8 were available via the Sephiroth Challenge starting from December 17, 2020, its corresponding spirits were not released until Challenger Pack 8's official release on December 22, 2020.
