Zinger (ジンガー, Zinger) is a wasp-like enemy from the Donkey Kong universe.

Artwork of a Zinger from DK: King of Swing.

Zingers are common, wasp-like enemies in the Donkey Kong games, usually in affiliation with the Kremlings. Their spiky bodies make them immune to being jumped on, but they can be defeated by other means such as throwing a barrel, or with projectiles like the Peanut Popgun.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Zingers appear in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as a Smash Tour item and as a Trophy, based upon their design from DK: King of Swing.

In Smash Tour

In Smash Tour, Zinger is a blue item. A player can use Zinger at the beginning of a turn on the board to place a trap on the space they are standing on; the first opponent to walk over said trap will be launched (unless the player is immune for any reason).

As a trophy

Trophy of a Zinger in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

NTSC: It'd be a ton of fun to ride on a Zinger, flying high up into the sky. Too bad they're covered in spikes and not all that friendly to begin with. Zingers come in different colors, with the yellow ones flying up and down and the red ones flying in circles. We don't want to spoil it, so you'll have to play to find out what the others do!
PAL: It'd be great if you could fly through the sky on a Zinger - too bad they're covered in spikes and far too nasty to let you. The yellow ones fly up and down while the red ones go round in circles. Want to know more? Go and check them out yourself, then. No promises you'll come back in one piece, though!

SNES: Donkey Kong Country (11/1994)
N64: Donkey Kong 64 (11/1999)

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Zinger appears as a spirit, this time using its artwork from DK: Jungle Climber. The Zinger, an Electroplankton, and Joan are consumed by Galeem's light in the intro cutscene to Adventure Mode: World of Light. Like numerous other Donkey Kong spirits, the Zinger can be found in DK Island, using a Pikachu as its puppet fighter.
