Toon Link (トゥーンリンク, Tūn Rinku) will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. He was announced on the official website on September 26th, 2013. Toon Link was announced on the release date of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD in Japan. In addition to being a playable character, Link from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks appears in a similar cel-shaded style in the background of the Spirit Train stage.

Confirmed information

  • Retains equipment exclusive to The Wind Waker version of Toon Link, such as the Master Sword, Hero's Shield, and Wind Waker.
  • The following moves are visually unchanged:
  • Down smash is somewhat slower.
  • Grab has significantly less ending lag.
  • His hookshot follow a straight path like Link's hookshot in Super Smash Bros. 64.[1]
  • Spin Attack now has a green sword trail.
  • Side taunt now shows Toon Link looking at a fairy.[2]

Special Moves

In Super Smash Bros. 4, special moves can be swapped out for different variants, but Toon Link's have yet to be seen. He retains his original special moves. These are Toon Link's special moves:
