Mewtwo is a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. mod Smash Remix. It was added into the mod in its v1.0.0 release on September 19, 2021.
Masachika Ichimura reprises his role as Mewtwo through archived audio from Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Attributes[edit]
Mewtwo is mostly reminiscent of its Melee incarnation. Being a floaty heavy hitter with a big hurtbox. Unlike Melee however, only 1/4 of its tail actually has a hurtbox attached to it, rather than 3/4.

Techniques[edit]
Double jump cancel[edit]
DJCing is a glitch-technique that involves using an aerial just after starting a double jump. This cancels the momentum of the double jump and allows quicker aerials, while also being able to speed up short hops, making short hopped DJC'd aerials especially effective when Z-cancelled. It can also help with extending combos and making new ones.
Lagless teleport[edit]
Mewtwo has less endlag when landing after a teleport compared to finishing teleport on the ground. With this, if Mewtwo uses teleport to somewhere slightly above the ground, then they can quickly teleport somewhere without suffering the usual endlag. This is especially useful for recovering or catching opponents off guard.
DJC shield break[edit]
Some of Mewtwo's aerials such as forward air or up air have high shieldstun, and this can be exploited with double jump cancels to repeatedly use those moves and perform a true shield breaking combo.
In Remix Modes[edit]
Remix 1P Mode[edit]
Mewtwo can appear as an ordinary opponent, giant opponent, or as a multi-man team, where it is fought on Saffron Cityδ. It can also appear in Stage 4 as a team with Pikachu called "Pocket Monsters", where they are fought on Saffron City DL or Gym Leader Castle.
All-Star Mode[edit]
In All-Star Mode, Mewtwo and its allies can appear on Saffron Cityδ or Pokémon Stadium (or Kalos Pokémon League prior to its removal in v1.4.0).
Profile[edit]
Born from Mew and genetically altered, Mewtwo is an incredibly powerful Psychic-type PKMN.
Enraged by the experiments performed on it while in captivity at the Pokemon Mansion on Cinnabar Island, Mewtwo escaped and sought refuge in Cerulean Cave. Bold trainers can still find it there to this day.
Works:
- Pokémon (GB)
- Pokémon Stadium (N64)
- Pokémon Puzzle League (N64)

Trivia[edit]
- Mewtwo's portrait on the character selection screen greatly resembles its artwork from Pokémon Red and Green Versions.
- Mewtwo's intro tagline "Mewtwo Strikes Back!!!" makes the same reference as its Smash 4 reveal trailer, a callback to the first Pokémon movie of the same name.
- Prior to 2.0.0, Mewtwo's polygon variant was based on Giegue/Giygas, the main antagonist of Earthbound Beginnings, whose sprite design is often said to resemble Mewtwo. This has since been changed to give it a hood-shaped head.
- In Melee, Mewtwo could use its back air at the point of its double jump with the most vertical momentum; however, this was not brought back in Remix.
