Dr. Luigi is a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. mod Smash Remix. He was added into the mod in its v2.0.0 release on June 25, 2025. Dr. Luigi is the tenth character added to the game to have not been playable in an official Smash game. Dr. Luigi plays very similarly to regular Luigi's appearance in canon Smash games post-64. Dr. Luigi represents his own Dr. Mario universe with a unique series symbol, and is joined by another doctor, Dr. Mario.
Similarly to Dr. Mario, Dr. Luigi shares his voice clips with Luigi, those being Charles Martinet's portrayal of Mario in Super Mario 64 but at a higher pitch.
Attributes[edit]
In contrast to Dr. Mario being a slower, heavy hitting version of Mario, Dr. Luigi is a quicker, more combo-oriented version of Luigi. More specifically, his gameplay is based on his incarnation from the Super Smash Bros. Brawl mod Super Smash REX. ALM5252, who designed the character for REX, worked with the team to port their version of Dr. Luigi to Remix.[1]

Trivia[edit]
- Dr. Luigi's character selection screen portrait is based on a render for Mario from Super Mario 64.
- In Dr. Luigi's self-titled game for the Wii U, he used L-shaped Megavitamins to clear out viruses. In Smash Remix, he instead uses the same Megavitamins as Dr. Mario.
- Dr. Luigi is the only Mario brother variant to be designated to the bonus slot.
- Dr. Luigi's dash attack is actually borrowed from Slippy, which is a slightly adjusted version of the original dash attack from Luigi, adding back its missing hitbox at the end.
