Introduction tagline

Sonic is a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. mod Smash Remix. He was added into the game in its v1.1.0 update on February 10th, 2022, serving as the first of two characters representing games released on rival platforms to the Nintendo 64, the other being Crash.

Sonic's default design is taken from Sonic Adventure, being slightly less tall than his design from Sonic Adventure 2 onwards. The Japanese version of Classic Sonic is available as an alternate costume, based on his in-game design from Sonic Jam. However, all of Sonic's associated stages are taken from Sega Genesis games and not Dreamcast or Saturn games. His moveset strongly resembles his official Smash moveset, with additional moves taken from Sonic Battle. He uses voice clips by Ryan Drummond (who voiced the character from Sonic Adventure up until Sonic Advance 3) when playing as Modern Sonic, and is silent when playing as Classic Sonic, alluding to the later appearances of the classic Sonic design after the introduction of the modern design, where he was also silent. A more powerful alternate variant of Sonic, Super Sonic, is available as a bonus character.

  • Runs to the right side of the screen, then the left, before finally coming back, backflipping, and striking a pose.
  • Spins in place, dances, and then performs the splits.
    • If he is in his Classic Sonic outfit, this is replaced with him rolling in from the background and pumping his fist.

In Remix Modes[edit]

Remix 1P Mode[edit]

Sonic can appear as an ordinary opponent, a giant opponent, or as a multi-man team, where he is fought on either Green Hill Zone, Casino Night Zone, or Metallic Madness.

All-Star Mode[edit]

Sonic and his allies are fought on either Green Hill Zone, Casino Night Zone, or Metallic Madness.

Profile[edit]

Sonic hails from the mysterious Christmas Island: although it would be hard to consider it home, as he travels the world looking for adventure, never staying in one spot. He does not consider himself a hero, but with his strong sense of justice, he has saved many islands and even the entire "Little Planet" from the plans of Dr. Eggman.

Works:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog (Gen)
  • Sonic Jam (Sat)
  • Sonic Adventure (DC)

Trivia[edit]

  • Sonic's portrait on the character selection screen is based on 3D artwork from Sonic Adventure.
  • Sonic's works unusually list Sonic Jam, despite the game simply being a compilation of the original Sega Genesis titles on the Sega Saturn.
  • Sonic's Modern stock icon resembles the 1-Up icon used in Sonic Advance, while his Classic stock icon resembles the 1-Up video monitor portrait in Sonic The Hedgehog.
  • So far, Sonic is the only character in Remix to have more than ten costumes, with a total of twelve; six each between his Modern and Classic iterations.
  • Sonic's intro tagline "Sonic Springs Into Action!!!" references the several springs Sonic uses to traverse through levels.
  • Sonic's polygon variant resembles Majin Sonic, a creepy image of Sonic, known for the infamous "Fun Is Infinite" easter egg from Sonic CD.
