Conker Makes a Rare Appearance!!!
Introduction tagline

Conker is a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. mod Smash Remix. He was added to the mod in its v0.9.7 release on May 11, 2021. Conker was the second playable character added to the mod to have not been playable in an official Smash game — after Mad Piano — and the first character of that type to have their own slot on the character select screen. Conker is also the first playable character to represent a universe that has yet to be represented in the official games, specifically the Conker universe.

Conker's appearance and moveset are based on his appearance in 2001's Conker's Bad Fur Day. His voice clips consist of archived audio from Bad Fur Day provided by Chris Seavor.

Moveset[edit]

Name Damage Description
Neutral attack 2% Punches twice, and then pulls out a chainsaw to attack. The chainsaw attack can be looped if A is mashed. The chainsaw references a tradition within the Conker series of having the character destroy corporate logos with it.

Forward tilt 10% A roundhouse kick.
Up tilt 11% An uppercut.
Down tilt 9% Conker sweeps with his tail.

Up smash 3% (each hit) Conker pulls out a flamethrower and starts firing. Hits opponents a maximum of five times.
Down smash 16% (from the front), 15% (from the back) Conker pulls out a chainsaw and swings it around himself.
Neutral aerial 11% (clean) 7% (late) Peforms a sex kick.
Forward aerial 14% Conker swings in front of himself with his frying pan.
Back aerial 19% Conker pulls out a katana and swings behind himself.
Up aerial 12% Conker swings above himself with his frying pan.

Neutral special Catapult 4% (uncharged), 12% (fully charged) Conker fires a nut with his slingshot. Holding down B charges the attack, allowing it to deal more damage. The slingshot only appeared as a context-sensitive weapon in some levels of Bad Fur Day. Still, it was the main weapon of choice for the original E-rated version of Conker in Pocket Tales and the unreleased Twelve Tales: Conker 64.
Up special Helicoptery Tail Thing 10% (initial hit), 3% (as his tail starts to slow down) Conker twirls his tail like a helicopter and begins to hover for about a second before he starts losing height. Holding down B allows him to maneuver while still twirling his tail, while letting go of B puts him into a helpless state. Though a move that Conker can use on his own, it is inspired by Tails from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
Down special Grenade 1~2% (grenade, uncharged), 5% (grenade, fully charged), 14% (explosion) Conker chucks a grenade in front of him, which explodes after two seconds. Tapping the B button causes Conker to toss it a short distance in front of him, while holding it causes him to throw it much farther. Unlike Snake's Hand Grenade, the grenade cannot be picked up after being thrown; instead, it is possible to smack around with attacks like Duck Hunt's Trick Shot. Conker used grenades in the "It's War" chapter, and they could be used by all characters in the multiplayer mode.

In Remix Modes[edit]

Remix 1P Mode[edit]

Conker can appear as an ordinary opponent, a giant opponent, or as a multi-man team, where he is fought on either Windy or Frosty Village. Starting in v1.5.0, he can also appear in Stage 4 as a team with Banjo & Kazooie called "Rare Pair", in reference to Rare Ltd., the company that made both Banjo-Kazooie and the Conker series, where they are fought on Windy, Spiral Mountain, Mad Monster Mansion, or Frosty Village.

All-Star Mode[edit]

In All-Star Mode, Conker and his allies can appear on Windy.

Profile[edit]

After helping Diddy Kong and the gang save Timber's Island from the evil Wizpig, Conker had himself quite the night.

A series of adventures in the Fairy Panther Kingdom ended with him as king, but at the cost of his love, Berri.

"The grass is always greener, and you don't really know what it is you have until it's gone."

Works:

  • Diddy Kong Racing (N64)
  • Conker's Pocket Tales (GBC)
  • Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64)

Trivia[edit]

  • Conker's render and portrait on the character selection screen are based on a piece of artwork from Conker's Bad Fur Day.
  • The quote at the end of his character profile is taken from Conker's monologue during the ending of Bad Fur Day. His congratulations screen is similarly based on the same scene.
  • Several of Conker's moves were changed or dropped during development, including chainsaw swipes as his jab, clapping bricks together as his up smash, an air fan-style tail spin as his grounded up special, and a rocket launcher as his neutral special.
  • Conker's intro tagline "Conker Makes a Rare Appearance!!!" makes a similar reference to Banjo & Kazooie's Ultimate reveal tagline "Banjo & Kazooie Are Raring To Go!", referencing Rare Ltd., the company that made and owns both the Banjo-Kazooie and Conker series.
  • Conker's polygon variant is said to resemble his Diddy Kong Racing design, embellished with a bushier-ended tail.
