Peach is a playable character in the Brawl mod Project M. She has been faithfully restored to her Melee version for her appearance in Project M.

Peach ranks 14th out of 41 on the official tier list, toward the lower half of the A- tier. This is a slight improvement over her placement in Brawl, where she ranked 19th out of 38, and a distance away from her 7th place out of 26 position in Melee. In the official Project+ tier list, she ranks much lower, placing 30-31th out of 42 characters, near the bottom of B-tier.

Peach is a methodical fighter with several intimidating tricks in her moveset. Her vegetables can either serve as a barrage of heavy damage, an edgeguarding tool, or a cover for her approach. is a formidable and terrifying grinder with long reach and duration, high damage and knockback, and low lag. Players who attempt to crouch cancel it can expect upwards of 80% in damage if it is charged, and its launch power grants it the ability to KO players at early percents. Peach also has her powerful float ability, which allows for the use of her set of fast, powerful aerials while approaching or falling back. It also opens up the ability to float cancel and to go for very deep edgeguards that most characters are incapable of. Peach has great combo starters in her jab, dash attack, and her throws.

However, Peach suffers in her mobility. Despite float granting her free reign of horizontal direction while airborn, her dash speed is extremely slow and she has one of the shortest wavedashes in the game. She also suffers from a lack of reliable kill moves with the exceptions of her down smash and forward air. This forces her to go for gimps often, but they are a field she excels in with the combination of her float and turnips. Peach also has a low falling speed, meaning she dies off the top easily.

Ground Attacks
*Dash attack can now be cancelled, allowing Peach to DACUS.
*
*
*
*Sweetspots of down tilt and up smash now use a Fan SFX.
*
*
*
*
**
**
**
*
*
*

Aerial attacks
*
**
*
*
*

Special moves
Special moves
*
*
*
*
*
*Peach Bomber no longer has a stronger Smashed version.
*
*

The frying pan and the (sweetspotted) golf club have KO potential, while the tennis racket is a semi-spike. All three items are disjointed and can serve as anti-air hitboxes, but the move is relatively slow and punishable compared to Peach's other options, and the tennis racket is very weak for a smash attack.

Powerful vertical knockback if sweetspotted (Peach's lower arm, as opposed to the upper arm). Peach's strongest move when sweetspotted in terms of knockback (excluding a Bob-omb or stitch-face Turnip), though it has very little horizontal range. Sweetspotting is very difficult to do, but has the highest KO potential of all of Peach's attacks.
| || 8 (sides), 15 (hand), 19 (arm) || Twirls around with her arm raised upwards. This move deals powerful vertical knockback if sweetspotted (which is located on Peach's lower arm, as opposed to the upper arm), and is Peach's strongest move when in terms of knockback (excluding a Bob-omb or stitch-face Turnip), though it has very little horizontal range. Landing the sweetspotting is very difficult to do, but has the highest KO potential of all of Peach's attacks. This move deals more damage if an opponent attempts to crouch cancel or is in their metal form, also making it the most damaging move in the game; dealing up to 65% if all five sweetspotted hits connect.

Attributes[edit]

Peach is a methodical fighter with several intimidating tricks in her moveset. Her vegetables can either serve as a barrage of heavy damage, an edgeguarding tool, or a cover for her approach. Her down smash is a formidable and terrifying grinder with long reach and duration, high damage and knockback, and low lag.

Despite float granting her free reign of horizontal direction while airborn, her dash speed is quite slow and she has one of the shortest wavedashes in the game. She also suffers from a lack of reliable kill moves with the exceptions of her down smash and forward air. This forces her to go for gimps often, but they are a field she excels in with the combination of her float and turnips. Peach also has a low falling speed, meaning she dies off the top blast line easily.

Changes from Melee to PM[edit]

Ground Attacks[edit]

  • Buff Neutral attack links better.
  • Buff New up tilt reminiscent of Brawl's although it lacks a sourspot and deals the same amount of damage as her Melee up tilt. It possesses more range and disjointedness than her headbutt up tilt in Melee.
  • Nerf New up tilt deals less knockback (48 (base), 72 (scaling) → 50/66).
  • Change Sweetspot of down tilt and hand hitbox of up smash now use a Fan SFX.
  • Buff Forward smash always follows the pattern of "tennis racket, golf club, frying pan", with the first of a match being random.
  • Buff Forward smash has generally increased knockback and damage on each item.
    • Buff Frying pan has increased damage (15%/17% → 18%) and drastically increased knockback (60 (base), 50 (scaling) → 40/80). It also does more shield damage and launches opponents more vertically (80° → 85°). The previously weaker handle hitbox now hits with full strength.
    • Buff Tennis racket has slightly increased damage (12% → 13%) and knockback (35 (base). 65 (scaling) → 50/60). (Note: it does not have the powerful sweetspot from Brawl.)
    • Buff Golf club has increased knockback (50 (base), 50 (scaling), 70 (tip scaling) → 20 (sour), 25 (tip)/80), giving it serviceable KO power. A new 15% hitbox with intermediate knockback has been added to the shaft(middle), where it would have instead done 13% in Melee.
  • Buff Up smash's most powerful "shoulderpad" hitbox (19%) now takes priority over the raised hand (15%) hitbox if both touch the opponent.
  • Buff Peach can now perform a DACUS as her dash attack can now be cancelled improving her up smash's approach potential. Her DACUS gains significantly greater distance than it does in Brawl where it gained no distance.
  • Nerf Down smash has slightly decreased damage (14%/12% per hit → 13%/11% per hit).

Aerial attacks[edit]

  • Change Peach's aerials no longer have IASA frames but they have shorter animations to compensate. This is due to how floating was programmed in Brawl where if Peach performs an aerial with IASA frames while floating, it would cancel the float if she performs another aerial.
    • Buff As a result, her aerials have less ending lag if Peach uses a special and she can grab ledges sooner after using aerials.
  • Change Like its Brawl counterpart, forward aerial produces a magic sphere and now plays a voice clip (although unlike in Brawl, it does not have one consistent voice clip). It also does not play its Brawl sound effect unless it connects.
  • Nerf Forward aerial has slightly reduced knockback scaling (70 → 68) and slightly higher ending lag (FAF 51 → 52).
  • Buff Down aerial auto-cancels earlier (frame 36 → 32) and deals slightly more damage due to changes to stale move negation (11% → 12%).

Grabs and Throws[edit]

  • Change Up throw now uses a heart animation.
  • Nerf Up throw can no longer chaingrab fast fallers at higher percentages.

Special moves[edit]

  • Buff Toad spore hitboxes send opponents outward rather than upward, making the move much safer on a successful counter.
  • Buff Peach Bomber has Brawl range and trajectory (70° → 33°), being overall better at KOing horizontally and having more utility. It no longer needs to be Smashed for maximum range and power.
  • Nerf Peach can no longer stall or gain height by hitting a wall with Peach Bomber, due to increased lag. It also deals less knockback (40 (base), 80 (scaling) → 25/83).
  • Nerf Peach Bomber no longer has a stronger Smashed version.
  • Change The effect of Peach Bomber's explosion changes based on her alternate costumes. All default costumes use a heart-based effect as in Brawl. The Fire Peach costume gives it a fire effect as it did in Melee, and the Shadow Queen costume grants it a darkness effect instead.
  • Buff Peach no longer loses the turnip if she is hit while pulling it out. There is still a chance of her dropping it, like with any other item. Her glide toss also covers more distance (although less than in Brawl) improving her approach with Vegetable.

Moveset[edit]

Up to date as of version 3.6.

Name Damage Description
Neutral attack 3% Slaps the enemy twice. The first hit can be used alone for mindgames.
2%
Forward tilt 13%/11%/10% (clean), 6% (late) Peach does a 180° high forward kick. This move is capable of seriously juggling heavyweight characters at low percentages if they have already used their second jump. Deals more damage if the enemy is closer to Peach's body and less damage at the foot. The strongest hitbox can KO at very high percentages.
Up tilt 12% Peach points upward, creating a blast of energy above her head that has different effects based on which costume she is currently using. This move has very good disjointed range but has high ending lag. Peach's head and her left arm are intangible while the hitboxes are out.
Down tilt 12% Sweeps the ground with her extended arm. This move meteor smashes opponents who hit her forearm and grounded opponents who hit her hand. On airborne opponents, her hand deals vertical knockback. A combo-starter that can also KO at very high percents.
Dash attack 12%(head/body)/9%(hands) (clean), 8%/7% (late) Peach lunges forward with both arms extended. Fast and good at starting combos (strongest hitbox) or pushing opponents offstage for edgeguarding (hand hitbox). The weak hitbox lasts for a deceptively long time. Very punishable if shielded.
Forward smash Tennis racket: 13%
Golf club: 13% (grip)/15% shaft)/17% (head)
Frying pan: 18%
Peach swings a frying pan, tennis racket or golf club in a cycling order of increasing range.
Up smash 8% (sides), 15% (hand), 19% (arm) Twirls around with her arm raised upwards. Peach's head and both of her forearms are intangible when performing this attack, making it excellent at beating down aerials from virtually all characters.
Down smash 11% (inner)/13% (edges) (5 hits) Peach crouches and spins around to the ground, hitting multiple times. This move has repeating hitboxes and is capable of dealing incredible amounts of damage. Arguably one of the best smash attacks in the game. This move deals more damage if an opponent attempts to crouch cancel or is in their metal form, also making it the most damaging move in the game; dealing up to 65% if all five sweetspotted hits connect. Both of Peach's legs are intangible when charging the attack and while the hitboxes are out.
Neutral aerial 14% (clean), 9% (late body), 10% (late arms) Peach twirls in the air, both arms extended. Short range, but very fast and kills at high percents.
Forward aerial 15% Peach takes off her crown and strikes with it. This move is a good spacing tool and potential kill move, but has a slightly slow startup.
Back aerial 14% (clean), 10% (late) Peach thrusts her hips backwards, dealing a good amount of knockback. This move comes out fairly quickly and has enough power to be a passable finisher at high percents. The late hitbox lasts for an extremely long time.
Up aerial 11% (body), 12% (leg), 14% (foot) Peach performs a quick kick above her head, having both KO potential and combo utility.
Down aerial 3% (hits 1-4) Kicks downward four times. A good combo starter and edgeguarding tool, but can potentially be escaped with SDI.
Grab
Pummel 3% Stomps opponent with her left foot.
Forward throw 2% (hit), 8% (throw) Peach slaps the enemy forward. Has very poor knockback at low percents, but it scales rapidly with increasing percent to become a powerful KO move. This is the strongest forward throw in the game.
Back throw 2% (hit), 9% (throw) Peach puts the enemy behind her and bumps them with her rear.
Up throw 2% (hit), 6% (throw) Peach puts the enemy above her, and volleys them upwards. This throw can be used chaingrab or start combos.
Down throw 0% (hit), 7% (throw) Peach places the enemy to the ground before violently sitting on them. This throw is mainly for mindgames, with strong followups if DI'd incorrectly.
Floor attack (front) 6% (hit 1), 6%/8% (hit 2 body/legs) Performs a sweep kick while getting up.
Floor attack (back) 6% Performs a sweep kick while getting up.
Floor attack (trip) 5% Performs a sweep kick while getting up.
Edge attack (fast) 7% Peach launches herself onto the stage, rear first. Very fast for an edge attack, but high ending lag.
Edge attack (slow) 10% (foot), 8% (body) Peach slowly gets up and swirls her foot in a 360° motion in front of herself.
Neutral special Toad 3% (hits 1-6) Peach holds Toad in front of herself, being a counterattack. If Peach is hit during this move, Toad sends out spores that deals the same amount of damage and knockback, regardless of which attack got countered. However, due to its lag and low reward, it is rarely useful. Peach will not turn around if she is hit from behind and activates the counter, and some multihitting projectiles like Sheik's needles or Ivysaur's Razor Leaf will simply hit Peach again and cancel her counter. The move will briefly stall Peach's descent when used in the air.
Side special Peach Bomber 16% Peach launches herself forward, creating an explosion that varies depending on which costume is used. Will pass through shields without hitting unless power-shielded, and is very punishable on a miss, but is a powerful semi-spike.
Up special Peach Parasol 4% (hit 1), 1% (hits 2-11), 3% (parasol) Peach jumps upward while holding her parasol, which allows her to float slowly downward until she touches the ground or grabs an edge. The parasol has a hitbox for the entirety of the float. The parasol can be closed by tapping down on the control pad/stick and opened again by tapping up. Landing with the parasol closed removes virtually all lag.
Down special Vegetable Varies Peach pulls out a vegetable out of the ground, with a low chance of pulling a Mr. Saturn, Bob-Omb or Beam Sword. The face on the vegetable varies, with some of them dealing additional damage and knockback.
Final Smash Peach Blossom 20-40% (based on distance) Peach dances, putting all opponents to sleep and covering the stage in peaches. Each peach heals 5% damage.
Vegetable Damage Data
Face Damage Pull Rate
Grin 1~9.2% 60.34%
Stare 1~9.2% 10.34%
Closed Eyes 1~9.2% 8.62%
Surprised 1~9.2% 5.17%
Happy 1~9.2% 5.17%
Wink 5~13.2% 6.90%

Alternate costumes[edit]

Project M[edit]

Beginning with 3.0, Peach gained two alternate costumes.

The first one is Shadow Peach. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Peach is offered as a vessel for the Shadow Queen, a powerful entity who was sealed away for a millennia. After her ressurection, Mario and friends have to defeat her in order to save Peach from her control. Her outfit includes a cape, and gives Peach red eyes, dark purple skin and makeup.

Another is Fire Peach from Super Mario 3D World. This costume gives her a ponytail, and has red gloves instead of white.

Aesthetically, Peach's heart effects are replaced by darkness and fire for those costumes, respectively.

Project+[edit]

In Project+, Peach receives an additional costume based on her appearance in Super Mario Sunshine (a sleeveless dress and no gloves). Her default costume includes three recolors: a black dress, a gold dress, and a costume inspired by her sprite from the original Super Mario Bros. with red hair, resembling her appearance in the three DIC Entertainment Mario cartoon adaptations. Her Shadow Queen costume has also received recolors, the brown recolor of which is based on a hypothetical Shadow Queen version of Daisy.

Trivia[edit]

  • Peach's Project+ render resembles promotional artwork for her in the Super Mario series.
  • Peach's original R-Button costume was based on a manga found in a Mario's Picross player's guide released only in Japan before ultimately being replaced by a costume based on her appearance in Melee.
